  • I'm on a role today. Have registered with Green Metropolis and listed 5 books. All 5 are really common so i'm not expecting them to sell straight away but it will be a nice surprise if they do sell. I've also got 3 items listed on Ebay and another have another few to do. I think i'm still miles behind my target though

    Ok, Question?
I am going to try Green Metropolis, but how do they make money, if you get £3 for every book and the postage is free?

Sell only thin light books - you might get a £1 or £2 if you are lucky!

There is the option on some of the books of charging a bit of postage if they are heavy, but really greenMet is great for those common books that you want to get rid of.

Just withdrawn £110 out of Paypal - very pleased although only 12 items sold and the other 22 that finished today didn't.

I'm going to organise some listings for higher value items to start on Thursday. it has been great getting rid of the little knick knacks and freeing up the space but the lack of cash for them and the high fees for selling them is getting me down. I want to see more pennies in my bank!

Off to wrap the 12 items now

I've not been doing much on ebay for the last few days... just can't find the time or get motivated :o i have so much to sell and i cant seem to find the time to get anything done.

I have managed to relist quite a few items tonight and i have put on some christmas decorations that might sell before xmas. Five of them already have someone watching them. I've started them all at 99p (i paid so much more for them than that) but i don't really care i just want the stuff out my house!!!!

I'm getting to the stage now that i really just want to take everything to the charity shop and get my house cleared!!!!

Never mind i'll find the time eventually....

Hope everyone is having more luck and making some money

    Hi buddiebabe,

I'm in the same boat as you although I do find myself a bit more motivated after several items have sold and I can see free space and cash in my bank.
Had a good look at the eBay room today and felt that it was going to be manageable but then remembered the loft and the garage

I'm setting myself a target of raising £40k next year which should clear my debts and help my mortgage a little so I keep on thinking that if I really do have a breakdown over eBay this year at least I can plan to start it over to help towards the target.

Ooops that sounds really defeatist - I don't mean it to but I really don't get excited by eBay anymore. I just need to make some big sales now and I might feel a little better.

Lexx - even though I am female I just can't seem to multi-task when it comes to watching TV - I am either watching it or listing; I can't do both!

I've just had my dress sold at £41 :D Although I'm shocked at the high final value fee of over £3! I've never sold anything more than 20 quid before. I still need to get paid for it aswell. I hate people not paying instantly! My shrug sold for £13.50 :D and they paid me straight away! Yay! Once I receive payment for the dress and some dvds (ended last week! grrrr) I'll have made over £100 on ebay in a month! Woo!

I should really save my ebay money for my deposit on a new rented place, but there's this top I REALLY want in Next that I'm tempted to get!
  • Well, I only did 6 listings for the whole of last week, was a bit traumatised by the 26 I did on the last cheap listing Sunday, and how much time I then had to spend on Monday and Tuesday sorting out the pictures.

I have sold quite a few items, but am still awaiting feedback on a lot of them. I know it's voluntary and all that, but not having it sets me on edge... is the item lost in the post, will I get a message with the buyer complaining about it... etc.
Am I the only one who fills with dread when they see unread messages in their eBay inbox? :rotfl::eek:
Came back from a day trip this morning to discover 2 messages, one saying an item that hasn't arrived yet (should have listened to my 6th sense on this one, was going to send it recorded, but changed my mind at the last minute), and someone complaining that a pair of gloves "fell apart". I said they could send them back for a refund, then I realised they had already left positive feedback, and changed my mind :p. So, am really hoping they decide they can't be bothered. (Because I really can't be bothered...)

credit_crunch, I listed some ladies belts recently (studded belts, other buckle belts and some waist belts), I found I had about a 60% (maybe a bit more) success rate on initial listings, with the belts generally selling at the (cheap) starting price, or on the 2nd bid. I've currently got quite a few bids on a scarf (but it is a designer scarf), but also 4 watchers on a non-designer scarf.

Congrats on your dress sale, Sharon 87. Hope you get paid soon!
I sold a dress for £30ish today and started it at £12 and would have been happy with that, so yay! :j
I might be some more belts soon too if I can interest you ;)

Lexxx, well done on getting that many items listed while watching TV!

buddiebabe, I know how you feel about wanting to just give the whole lot to charity. But getting money from buyers is a great motivation!
