Books have a £2.75 limit (until October) unless you specify they are large/heavy. If they are, you have to put the postage in your listing and tell the buyer to wait for an invoice before they pay. I had to do this today on a boxset of books.

Not sure about the rest - eBay seem to be saying you have to offer one free postage option (eg: 1st class) but can then have paid for options as well. It's very confusing - worth asking on the Q&A board over there.

If you sell in the book category then you cannot add more than £2.75 for books if using Royal Mail. Putting 'please contact me for details' will get your auctions pulled if reported and a possible suspension.

You can use a courier for heavy items, but you should then out the courier cost in as appropriate and of course as couriers are dear that may well imit your market. You can't say you will use a courier and then just use Royal mail.

The new rules are free postage is actually fairly simple considering this is ebay who never explain themselves well. They require that the first UK option for shipping is free, any non UK or alternative postage methods can be at an additional cost. So you could have the following:

    2nd class postage: FREE
    1st class postage £1
    Europe airmail £5 etc

The buyer must always have the option of a free postage service and cannot be required to pay any further amounts or pay for an upgraded service. You will also not be able to even say recorded will be an additional 75p as that option is also disappearing on all listings this Autumn.

3 items listed today and 2 on amazon.

What do you guys list? I am going to try and find some other things later, I have lots of novels but it hardly seems worth listing them when postage will cost more!!

Hope my auction doesn't get pulled then - I uploaded a 1600 g book using TL and it told me to put my postage in the listing, which is what I did

I have changed my auction - it's now got free p&p and I've put the postage in the start price (which makes eBay more ££s in FVFs). That should mean it won't get pulled I hope :)

That's exactly why eBay are changing it...to make them even more money!
