Who's best provider for broadband?

We've just finished a 12month contract with AOL. Not had too many problems with them, but am wondering if we're getting the best value for our money.
We don't do too much downloading etc.... Should we stick with AOL or can we do better?
Thanks in advance.

Speed/download limit/price/contract length
I'm sorry to say I haven't got a clue what deal we're on at the moment - my DP signed up for it a year ago, and I think it was min 12 month contract, so we're free to move now if we want.
As a general rule, we don't tend to download/upload much, although I did try uploading lots of photos recently and it took too long, so I went into work and uploaded them instead.
I would like a decent speed connection - I like to whizz around lots of sites at the same time, and I get impatient if I'm kept waiting too long.0 -
https://www.ADSLguide.org do provider comparisons and tarrif details, if you've got the time it's a great place to check.0

Why not just read Martin's article on the main MSE site? :rolleyes:Jumbo

Check out the "Cheapest Broadband Provider Discussion" thread, also on this board. Loads of good info there. Most people say avoid Tiscali - also AOL doesn't figure too highly in the ratings on : https://www.ispreview.co.uk

I have heard good things about Idnet (infact I'm moving to them myself soon).
They have a package for £14.99/month with a 5Gig download limit (which is very generous and for the average websurfer that will be plenty). And they will set you up on the max speed your line will allow (up to 2Mb).

Avoid Tiscali customer service 0/10 honest0

One things for certain.
Tiscali have took their final payment from my bank account on the 5th,and I have just cancelled their direct debit,so they won't be getting another penny from me.
