Well, I've seen many discussions on this website go round in circles but this takes the biscuit!!

The DM item in your link was published on 23 May 2011 and was originally posted by you (post 724) on page 37 of this never-ending thread.

I'm not sure why you feel the need to restart a discussion from a year ago.

O.K. Apollonia, You got me on that one.:o I actually clicked on the wrong link, and did not intend posting that particular item.

    This was the intended link...

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9295340/Dentists-forcing-500000-NHS-patients-to-pay-privately-report.html

Thank you:T for pointing that out, even if you probably don't agree with the content.

Perhaps you will remove my 'mistake' link on your post?

    Best Regards

Kenny that's actually not the most accurate of reports. They ignored most of the people surveyed were happy with their care

O.K. Welshdent, I gave the wrong link information. Do you feel the same way about this particular item?

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9295340/Dentists-forcing-500000-NHS-patients-to-pay-privately-report.html

AND, I do realize of course that most people are perfectly happy with NHS Dental care. I do believe that most of the above items points refer to organisations like Denticare. This is the experience that I have, as mentioned just a little previously.

You will already know that I had nothing but praise for my NHS Dentist who I was with for almost 25 years in Northampton. But then I moved to Wales and the rip off Denticare organisation which I am stuck with. Unless of course I want to go Private.

This Pensioner go Private with even less cash in my pocket due to the Granny Tax? forget it M8!

Did you have a look at my website Granny Tax rebels .org ? No direct link allowed...but just string it together.

The OFT report is already being discussed here:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3986743

BTW have you ever considered starting NEW threads for NEW discussions?
Posting everything you want to say onto this already unwieldy thread whether it is relevant or not is very unhelpful for newcomers looking for information.

Your post still has a quote from your deleted DM link although the link now goes to the Telegraph.

    '
Dentists are overcharging patients and not informing them about NHS treatment to which they are entitled, an undercover investigation has found.
The three-month probe found some dentists are pressurising patients to go private – even though they could get the same treatment far more cheaply on the NHS'.

In the interests of clarity for anyone new to this thread, it might be as well to leave a clear trail of what happened with various stories and links.

The OFT report has it's own thread already ayway!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

    With respect Toothsmith

That may be so, but how many of the general public would know anything about it without either this post or the original Telegraph newspaper item ?

The issue was a news item on the TV News of course, though not in the detail in the Newspapers.

    Best regards
