We did and they said you can. If that was the case we would have them all rejected but we don't. I was under the impression you can't continue to a band4 but I have been told on numerous occasions you can.. What you can't do is continue FROM a band 4

Of course the pcts won't complain if you take 2 payments ;-)

ive tried to claim urgent following band 2 and the BSA rejected it. called them up and told me that cont of treatment does not cover urgent treatment. However if I submitted same claim as a band 1 cont of treatment then it gets accepted.
    Dry socket is UT.

Hmm that's odd! Honestly ours are never rejected. They can't seem to make their minds up

    Which system are you using?
We have R4 and when opening up UT a charge is generated. On the claim screen I have to manually tick further treatment and override pt charge revenue.
comes up as rejection cont of tx disallowed.
Perhaps the Welsh and English systems are different?

No we ring the same people IIRC. The only difference in wales is the prices that the patients pay. We still use the paper forms for my main practice but i work part time in one using dental plus and that works fine whenever I have tried it. Been a while since I used R4 so I cant remember what I did on there and I havent used SOE so not sure what happens there :-/

AFAIK, you can't do a continuation of treatment from a Band 1, urgent treatment or Reg 11 appliance.

Nicely highlighting more reasons why we dislike the system! Even the people running it dont know what they are doing. All I can say is at no point have we had a rejected claim of a band 4 contin from another band. The Reg 11 I have never tried and have even been told to charge exempt patients for that one.

    LOL, yep.

You can perform an urgent course of treatment as a continuation from a band 2 or 3, but not a band 1 or another urgent.

And you're right, exempt patients must pay for a Reg 11.

You should have been charged the difference between band one and two, the dentist was right. The no extra charge within two months is only if the treatment is in the same band otherwise you could have a crown and only pay a check up charge which would be ridiculous . You had band two treatment so you paid the difference.

Cracked teeth can be really tricky to see and diagnose. The crack doesn't appear on x rays and can be very difficult to spot in the mouth.

O.K. and thank you Brook2jack and all below for the good advice and opinion. I am sorry for the late reply, but I have not been getting any post notification from my OP so I thought nobody had seen fit to give advice or opinion in respect of my charge whinge !:D

I am fine about the extra £27 as I can understand the fact that I had moved into scale 2/3? because of the further tooth extraction.

I thought it was worth an enquire under the 'further treatment under 2 month from original treatment' rule Denticare and perhaps the NHS? have.

If however I had been charged the full £39 only days after my original check up then I feel that would have been a different matter.

I can further understand what you say in respect of a hairline crack being very difficult to either see or assess.

Some of you guys further opinions about the 'system' have blinded me with science though.

I always find you Dentists thoughts on everything rather fascinating, even if I have not seen eye to eye with all on one or two things I THINK I know something about.;)

    Best Regards

    Kenny Thain.
