I bought one last week whilst on Holiday in Cornwall.I think its lovely. Can be a little bit itchy I find round the neck.
2012 wins! can of deodorant, a personalised Bean, craft show tickets, Top Gear Live Tickets, Case of sourz fusion
  • Make sure they have charged you the right amount when you receive the coat. I was charged £18.95 before P&P, and when ringing the Asda (I don't think it was a UK branch!!) they have no record of me, my order or my details:rolleyes:   .
Coat is fab btw ;), although I'd say it's more like a jacket than a coat as it is not very long.
EDIT - They rang and have refunded extra.

it reminds me of the 'miners' coat sold on the markets in the 80's. well its the same fabric (only that it was a heavier fabric compared to this which is quite lightweight) and they used to be only around a tenner or less. seems all that asda has done is restyle it .. and doubled the price.

Would you expect to buy an item of clothing for the same price today as you did almost 30 years ago? hahahaha.

Oi!!. Obviously you are only 18 or something as anyone born in the eighties :A knows that 80's is only 20 yrs ago, not 30, makes us all feel a lot younger ;) .

Anyway, i've seen the coat in the newspaper. It looks ok, not sure i'd like to buy it though as everyone else is buying it. I can just imagine everyone wearing the same coat :D

But as we are all different shapes and sizes, not to mention ages, I think the coat will look different on everybody. And the beauty of the coat is that it's plain and classic, so you can customise it as has been mentioned before, or make it your own by accessorizing it with a nice scarf or bag.

I think it looks really good with one of those across-the-body bags as shown in this photo:

I might just have to get one...

Thanks very much to the op, my coat turned up this morning and it fits perfectly. What a bargain, I am absolutely over the moon with it.
  • Have just ordered mine - a brilliant find. Thanks very much!
I have to get back to work, when I stop rowing the slaveship goes round in circles.
    :o
  • I bought a £15 coat last year from Asda. I did worry that it was going to be too thin but as I was trying to lose weight I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a coat that I wouldn't be wearing for very long. I wore all through the winter with cardigans/jumpers underneath and the usual hat, scarf and gloves and was warm enough in it.

I have managed to lose weight since last year and in reality it is a bit big for me now, but I'm not going to get a new one yet. I did try on the new ones the other day, and the next size down does fit me nicely, but I think I'm just going to get the buttons on my old one moved over a bit and see how I get on with that. Hopefully I can wear the old one this year and get a new one next year (or in this years sale for next year!). There is also the fact that is different to this years coat (collar and pockets are a different design) so it'll be nice not to have the same coat as everyone else. :D

My 13 yearold daughter has got one and it looks great on her, and its 66% wool.
As for all the negative stuff about quality and true to size, its £15 for gods sake, what do you expect?
Its a bargain whatever way you look at it.
Not sure where the 'credit crunch coat' bit comes from though, its just a good old fashioned Asda bargain. Credit crunch is overused and creeping into everything now.

Yes, I agree - this coat is only 15.00 pounds and fantastic quality and value for the money! What a bargain - got mine two weeks ago and I love it!
