  • brainwave- cut gas/leccy bills this winter by turning everything off, and buying a few extra blankets/jumpers etc..

eat to detox- eat fresh salad & fruit (grown yourself), have raw' sushi' style fish, or cook meat if desired/available (abandoned pets?) on a bbq, using dead stockbrokers as fuel..

walk to work, as good exercise- look out for rampaging Icelanders though..

result? A fitter, leaner population, less strain on the NHS, and the paper saved from all the fags NOT made can then go onto a big bonfire..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)

what is a small issue to some is a big issue to others and its always a small isue when its not you.
Fair point. I'm just saying that the cry for help is rather disproportionate to the problem. When i was a kid we lived in a council flat that had no heating save for a coal fire with a back to back range. This also heated the hot water. The windows were the old metal framed variety, single glazed of course. In winter the wind screamed through them and they frosted up inside! Each winter morning someone had to be the first to put their foot onto the freezing cold lino floor, tiptoe into the lounge ,screw up lots of bits of newspaper, add bits of wood, then some coal and get the fire up and running and get up close to it with your teeth clattering and skin goosebumped to tease it into life and finally get warm. I'm not that old either so we are not talking Dickens' days!

People just dont know how lucky they are these days and they whine about the slightest thing . No need for violins or anything... :)

so because you suffered back then it is ok for us to suffer now? Yes, we accepted the fact back then, but now we are in 2008 and i am paying for a service we are not receiving.

Anyway, they turned up on Monday, fitted the new part and............it still didn't work :(

The engineer went over the boiler again and found that a pipe coupling has rusted and was allowing air to leak. So all it needed was a new pipe and fixings, which are now on order and due to be fitted tomorrow (Wednesday).

Fair dues to the guy, he did a temp repair, to ensure we had water and heating, but this could have been diagnosed/repaired 11 days ago!

Ivrytwr3- i wasnt really commenting on your post. Yours is a fully commercial arrangement involving a contract between you and EON and no doubt,in that contract there will be some entry relating to response times and standards of service. If they are in breach of these then of course you are right to be aggrieved.
