  • Exactly - the room upgrade.

Thats kinda what i meant by 'honour' as in the room upgrade the lady on the phone said we could have if space was available that day :)
Am real curious to see if that's what will happen but of course you're right, they have no obligation to do this now. And you're also right that there is no exec floor, but that's no probs :)

Thanks for your well wishes Tojo Ralph, fingers crossed here too :D

In my opinion it is a case of "honouring" your Gold status if the Hilton posted out a hard copy of your reservation which they had printed GOLD on it, then you will find they will honour that status subject to their room availability, even if your online account has reverted to blue membership.

I regularly stay in Hiltons but unfortunately never seem to get above silver membership. But I must say in all my stays, even on silver, I have always been upgraded without even asking which makes me stick to the Hilton brand rather than say the Marriott.

Scorpiokitten - have you received a print out from the Hilton?

I have never known a Hilton Hotel post out written confirmation of a reservation? ..... Is that a UK thing? .... Do UK Hiltons usually post out confirmation?

I don't believe that Silver status carries any form of entitlement to upgrades whether they are available or not, which means you must just be lucky, charming or both. :)

Tojo Ralph - Yes its quite bizarre, I have never known Hilton to post out confirmation of a booking before either, so I was as surprised as you to receive one!! It also had a till style visa receipt attached. I did wonder if this was something they do just for gold bookings!!

I never expect silver status to entitle me to anything either, and I don't think I rank high in the charm department.... Some of my colleagues also get complimentary upgrades upon arrival, usually by asking, but this is only on UK hotels for weekend breaks etc.

Just saw my Hilton Honours email account update, I am BLUE. Joined the gold membership and it said I was gold until this came through. Bummer. Can't find anything on previous emails when joining that says gold. Should have printed off a page on the website after joining!!! But doesn't matter, took advantage of the cheap offer for autumn/winter breaks including breakfast. Still might email asking what's going on????

I would guess that their response would be that you
did not get something you were not entitled to. :)

I sort of figured that out when they changed the status. The email thing was a passing thought
