Free Hilton Gold Status!

I can't get the link to work now, it's coming up as an error on the Hilton site. Anyone got another link to use?
Thanks0 -
Bad news everyone - we've all been rumbled .........
If you check your account status you will see that all gold card members through the link are now the rock bottom blue card holders - bye bye upgrades, oh well we still get the free paper.
All those who have booked ressies to come won't be allocated upgrades as upon check in they will see you are a blue member only.
This was posted on several American websites, and from what I've read half of America applied for a gold card !!!
Oh well, it was nice while it lasted:)0 -
 Was just coming on here to say that I am now a blue member! Oh well, it would have been lovely

Well if you have actually booked a stay before your account was reverted to blue membership, and you have received a hard copy of your reservation through the post (with visa payment receipt attached), the Hilton appear to be honouring those bookings as Gold membership.
Mine said Gold on the reservation acknowledgement, even though my online account said blue. I got lovely room upgrade without any hassle with wine/water but no newspaper!
I would safely say the reservations managers have been fully briefed on what has been going on, as he tried to ask a few questions, ie: who do you work for etc.
Mind you the breakfast service was soooo bad in the hotel, it just reminded me why I tend to avoid the Hilton at weekends if possible. Full of screaming kids (as they stay and eat free if under 10 yrs) - not that I have anything against them as I have my own, but I do like to feel I am not sitting in Macdonalds when in a 5 star hotel away !!!0 -
Tried the link and it looks like the site has been removed.0
-
Yes the link was closed days ago, as they have been swamped with worldwide applications !!!
My previous posting applies to persons who were fortunate enough to claim gold status while it was working.0 -
what a load of poo.
going to be in a Hilton hotel tomorrow, was going to try and get in the exec lounge for some freebie breakie, just logged on and back to Blue status
oh well, worked on one trip so should not be too ungrateful!I am a Travel AgentMy company’s ABTA number is V2043. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.
I am also Cabin Crew, my posts are my own and not that of the airline or other company0 -
I managed to get gold status a few weeks ago (and was mega chuffed about it!)
Anywho, I'm off to Blackpool Hilton on Sun via their 1/2 price deal, which i booked when i was still a Gold member with them.
I distinctly remember when I called to book and gave her my hhonors number, she welcomed me as a 'gold' member, 'Thank you so much for all your custom etc'
So am now very curious to see what happens on Sunday, whether they'll honour the upgrade or not  (although brekkie is already included - thank god)0 -
Yes I am sure you will find they will honour your Gold status - they did mine anyhow last weekend. I am searching the internet to see if there is any other way to obtain Gold status!!0

It is not a case of honouring as Gold status or not, there is no obligation on the part of Hilton to upgrade you ..... And any potential upgrade is based on your pre-selected on-property VIP benefits. Anyway, as far as I know, the Blackpool Hilton doesn't ave an exec floor, but fingers crossed you'll get a space available room upgrade, which will mean a better view, furnishings or more space.
