Martin Lewis roasted for giving "diabolical" advice on C4

This was just on the tv where pretty much the presenter ripped into Martin Lewis and exposed his advice as a bit of a joke, and tbh I can't blaim him for having a go - I've got a couple hundred quid in Icesave myself that I'll probably need to get out in the near future, which I won't see for months now/if ever again!!
I kinda feel I should give him the benefit of the doubt, yet he didn't do any favours for himself today - his excuse was that if he had advised moneysavers to withdraw their cash, Icesave would have collapsed 'months ago.' Yeah right, Martin - delude yourself that you have that much influence over the banking system!
How is Martin going to sort out this mess? Because of him poor disabled pensioners like the guy in the interview have probably lost their hard-earned life savings!

(PS the chap in the interview had never heard of me, and was not a user of this site. If he had been I hope he would've had under £50,000 in the account).

1) You say he has no influence
2) You blame him for his influence in losing people money in Iceland - the Metropolitan Police lost £30m so I assume that's down to this site too
Truth:
1) He has some influence (e.g. awareness of compensation limits, bank charge reclaiming etc) but
2) People make their own decisions and shouldn't blame some bloke off the internet or radio.

How is Martin going to sort out this mess?
Martin is a Journalist. Why should he have to sort out anything?
Channel 4 did the dirty on Martin and pulled a cheap stunt.Because of him poor disabled pensioners like the guy in the interview have probably lost their hard-earned life savings!
Really??? How many people have lost their money? Why was Martin responsible for individuals making their own mind up on where to place their money?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Icesave savers are fully protected for all of their cash, as announced by the UK Treasury yesterday.Former MSE team member0

Have you ever visited the planet earth?. Have you not been watching the news over the last 24 hours?. Have you not read the countless other threads on this very subject. The disabled guy will not lose any of his life savings with Icesave just maybe some interest. sBecause our wonderful government are guaranteeing every penny of UK depositors above and beyond the 50k guarantee level. On second thoughts don't bother reading it as I've just noticed your screen name.

MY my how quicky people turn, a little unfair i think to belame martin for "giving bad advice", to those wanting the best rate, as many comparison site were also stating. when he simpley told us that ICESAVE gave a good rate along with many other's over the last few years. He didn't say we must put money in it as we are the only people to be able to move our own money.
I think he got B**ls for going on the programe we've not seen any othere site/newspapers ect do the same have we?
I must say that i don't have any money with ICESAVE ect as i simple can't afford to yet, and i do feel for everybody who has the worry hanging over them.

If you want to hear Martin's side read the first post here.
Far from taking Martin's advice the guy in the wheelchair had never heard of him. A cheap stunt by the TV programme.0 -

Martin's got nothing to sort out. If you are that unhappy what are you still doing on a site he runs? After all, if he is to blame, why would you listen to any other advice? if I was him, I'd say screw you all and close the site down. You try and help others and you get nothing but grief. Did you post anything saying thanks when the advice was working?
It's time to grow up and face facts. This sites for ADVICE. If you want to be TOLD what to do, then go and pay to see a Financial Advisor.
The number of idiots that simple read what they want to is outstanding.
I am certain all his information always said that the protection scheme only protected £35k (at the time) so if you wanted to be safe it was best to spread your money.
Considering the government of Iceland defaulted on THEIR AGREEMENT and OUR government stepped in and said they'd cover it. You never lost anything! Even those idiots who invested more than what was protected aren't losing anything (even though they should).
Suggest you grow a back bone and face up to being an adult. You make your own decisions. You choose to take this advice for FREE. If you really wanted to protect your money, you'd have seen a financial advisor.
Now go and unsubcribe before you start blaming the information being given for something else due to your failure.0
