This same topic is running on the Tesco Misprice thread .... can't help thinking there's something wrong though ... you know what you're doing is wrong, yet still doing it ??0

Of course it isn't wrong. Like I said before, Tesco benefit by poaching extra customers from their competitors, which is why they accept their coupons. If they didn't want you to use coupons, they would not accept them.ceebeeby wrote:This same topic is running on the Tesco Misprice thread .... can't help thinking there's something wrong though ... you know what you're doing is wrong, yet still doing it ??
Anyway, if you think it is wrong, why are you bothering to read the thread in the first place?A penny saved is a penny gained0 -
Great first post, high acehigh_ace wrote:I work as a supervisor/till gimp in sainsburys. Personally I'm not bothered whether you buy the product or not, as Sainsburys can still reclaim the dosh regardless. I'd be a bit tight about putting vouchers through if they were clearly branded with another supermarket. We wouldn't be able to use those.
Best bet would be to goto someone young but experienced (unexperienced/newstarters will be calling the supervisor for everything that makes them think), as like me, so long as they get paid they don't really care.
That's exactly what I do in my local Sainsbury's - nice to see that my theory was right.
The only problem for me is finding someone young and experienced in my Sainsbury's - most of them are over 50

comperking wrote:Your agument does not add up because if the staff were told not to take Somerfield vouchers the till (Computer) would reject them! Each one was scanned (barcode) and all went through. Anyway why would you be concerned about a supervisor? You are the most important person in the store, the customer!
Try telling that to the users on this board who have been banned from their local supermarket by doing just that!. :rotfl:0 -
thing is i work in Tesco, last time i went on the till i got a pop-up message saying we accept all coupons0

I wrote to my local Tesco regarding their policy on vouchers as I had been refused very bluntly and told it was one coupon per transaction if the product on the voucher wasn't purchased.
I had a £3 voucher, 2x50p vouchers and 2x20p vouchers.........the mardy till operator took only one 20p coupon so needless to say I was a bit miffed and wrote to the manager saying I would be taking my trade back to Asda where I could rely on my coupons being accepted.
Needless to say, this was a couple of weeks ago and I'm still awaiting a reply or maybe they are still debating on their stores policy?
Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -

Whilst I have sympathy for anyone who has been (supposedly) banned from Tesco I find it very hard to understand how they implement this directive, particularly from a large store!
Do they have a wanted poster up on the door with special instructions for security to eject you on site? Maybe they reprogrammed their computers to flash up a big warning on screens to CSM that you’re in the store!
I’ve heard they have one dedicated person who trolls the stores with a most wanted list and he or she gets a bonus for anyone they catch!
Perhaps someone can inform us on MSE how many actual people have been banned from their 2,300 stores world-wide to date?
Considering Tesco’s profits are currently running at £2.03B I’m surprised anyone has any sympathy for them! Read this article about Tesco’s “Bully Boy Tactic’s” and weep!

Whoops, must dash my Tesco order has just arrived at the front door!COMPERKING

Well done “Comperking”
To quote “Dads Army” and Mr Jones the butcher “they don’t like it up them Mr Mainwaring!
Nothing wrong with playing Tesco at their own game and if there’s a few casualties along the way that’s the price of war!
Being new to MSE it seems that a certain section think it’s a privilege to shop at Tesco and are frightened to death to incur the wrath of the supervisors!
I always thought CSM’s were there to assist the customers not to put the frighteners on them! Let’s be honest most of us are honest & hard working individuals and NEED to save a penny or two to survive!
If only Tesco would be honest with its customers and say categorically that they do accept vouchers from XYZ and yes we are trying to annihilate the competition you might have more respect for them!
Keep up the banter folks I love it!0 -

Well said, I agree..... without our custom Tesco wouldn't be making the millions of profit each year.0 -
I'm fed up with seeing people put companies down just because they are successful for goodness sake. How typically British your comments are. That's what we are so good at doing.
Anyway, back on topic, my sympathy goes out to those who were banned from their stores. It's not a joking matter for them. I dont care how they implement the ban, to be put in that position in the first place was just wrong, humiliating, and disgraceful. I wouldnt want it to happen to anybody else, so please just be careful, thats all Im saying.
I also think, or suspect (ie cleanunderapants) that most of the replies in this thread come from the men. Well, no wonder you couldnt care less about being banned, as I suspect it's not you, but you kind wives, who have to tredge around the supermarket every week getting the weekly shop and thrusting your coupons under the assistant noses while taking a deep breath.
