Tesco Alert!!!!!!!!!!

Tesco Alert!!!!!!!!!!
Sunday 4th Dec

I've just come back from Hove Tesco and the they took £5.10 worth of "Somerfield" vouchers!

Didn't buy any of the products and the checkout was right in front of the supervisor's desk!

The current December "Somerfield" Magazine has £22.50 worth of vouchers and is FREE from any store!

Remember, Once you’ve seen one shopping centre you’ve seen a mall!

  • You are very lucky then because in my store, we have been told we are not to take any other store coupons unless its a TESCO coupon. It must also have a barcode, so none of this 40p off without a barcode to scan.

Not sure if its just a regional thing...

    :)

We have two local tesco's and a new Tesco Metro or whatever it is called. The rules seem to change wherever I go and depending on who serves me. I take both the Somerfield coupons and the Sainsbury mags but don't buy anything I wouldn't anyway, if they take the coupons that's great but if they don't I haven't lost out so it doesn't worry me.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I agree, but there again I was told under no uncertain terms that "Tesco" didn't take any vouchers without buying the item only two days before by a real old bat!

I now take previous reciept and shove it under the supervisors nose! "Well what is you policy on vouchers" I say if compromised!

All the "Somerfield" coupons have barcodes and today the girl was great when I said "can you check these for me"?

It never hurts if you get a regular checkout person who takes them and build up a little recognition with them.

My only advice is to all move down to Hove!

    Good hunting!

I've used Somerfiels vouchers for over 8 months in my local Tesco's (Halifax) without any problems. My only hassle has been geting hold of 8 to 10 Somerfield mags every month to rifle the best coupons, i.e. £1 and above. luckily my local Kqiksave has just changed into a Somerfields.

Not in my local store. God knows why, but last time I tried this the supervisor came over and gave me a repreminding about using these in my local tescos.

And I wouldnt question the supervisor, if next time they do refuse to accept your coupons. The supervisor will take one look at that receipt you have and note down the Checkout Assistant who took your vouchers, who will also get a good talking to I suspect or worse. The very least is, that assistant would never accept you coupons again. So think before you act ;)

I make sure that each time I shop at Tesco I go to a different cashier. There are only 3 or 4 at my store who will take coupons without any problems so I only need to go to one of them every week or so. There are different till supervisors on and I know the diifficult ones and only do very small shops for neccessities when they are on

If you get spotted using vouchers that Tesco don't approve of they can make using ANY vouchers difficult. On one hand I want to save as much on each shop as possible, on the other I want to be able to use coupons for years to come. I strike a balance and try to avoid attention. Like Mhoc, I use different checkout staff (but ones I know will accept coupons), and shop at different times of the day.
I know (seen at least 3 cases of it happening in these pages) that Tesco can bar any person if they don't want to serve them and that would be that. I'm not a loyal Tesco's shopper, but I recognise a good situation when I see one, and I'd rather keep it that way.

    Not 100% sure, but I thought it was £12 worth of vouchers - 1 x £5, a few £1 and the rest 50p.

Picked mine up a few days ago, and I'm pretty sure it was the December one. The vouchers were for Christmas booze.
