Ok, based on your post code you are not in a cabled area, so Virgin Media cable broadband is out. From samknows.com..

You are connected to the Earls Colne telephone exchange.

ADSL is available in your area

Your exchange is also enabled for ADSL Max services
Your exchange is not yet enabled for WBC services (ADSL2+)

According to BT Wholesale, houses at your postcode should be able to support a 6.5Mbps or faster connection via ADSL Max.

    You can receive 2Mbps ADSL
    You can receive 1Mbps ADSL
    You can receive 512kbps ADSL
    You can receive 256kbps ADSL

AOL is not yet available in your area
O2 / Be Unlimited is not yet available in your area
Bulldog (C&W) is not yet available in your area
TalkTalk (CPW) is available in your area at up to 8Mbps
Sky Broadband / Easynet is not yet available in your area
Edge Telecom is not yet available in your area
Entanet is not yet available in your area
Lumison is not yet available in your area
Newnet is not yet available in your area
Node4 is not yet available in your area
Pipex is not yet available in your area
Smallworld Media is not yet available in your area
Tiscali is not yet available in your area
Tiscali TV is not yet available in your area
Orange is not yet available in your area
WB Internet is not yet available in your area
Zen is not yet available in your area

With Talk Talk as your only LLU provider in your exchange, this is who you'll get the best prices from. Talk Talk also do line rental, so there are savings to be made there. You always qualify for Talk Talk's free broadband offer. All in all, the cheapest I can see for you, is £15.49 for line rental, upto 8mb broadband (you'll get more like 6.5mb) and inclusive evening and weekend landline calls. 18 month contract.

Right, slight update on this thread.

I ordered Plusnet's services a few weeks ago!

Activation date was a week ago today, and i should have received my free router and hardware bundle to enable me to setup my connection a week ago too.

Anyway, my connection has been active a week, however i am still yet to receive my router and hardware bundle.

The first was supposedly lost in a warehouse mixup, following a number of phone calls, i was promised a second one would be sent out first class and be with me yesterday, unfortunately, yesterday has been and gone, as has today, and i am still without any hardware, and connection-less.

Needless to say, i will be on the blower to Plusnet AGAIN tonight
