Does anyone know if our deposits were kept in the UK or in Iceland? The icelandic compensation contingency pot was reputed to be 88 million. If there are 300000 Uk depositors and they all had 16K in the bank That is only 48 million.
By any chance are you using the same model of calculator that the banking industry has been using of late? ;)

    It's probably an Icelandic one.

Well I'm asking for abuse on this one but does that mean I have to stop supporting West Ham?
I'm not sure I can do it................

who said they had average of 16k? Also, 300,000 multiplied my just £100 each is £30m, so you are clearly wide of your mark with that suggestion, i think it is £4.8billion isnt it?

Or we could send a elite group of soldiers to Iceland to kidnap Ford Supermodel of Iceland 2006,

Once in England she would be forced to do a ten minute private dance for each of the 300,000 Icesave consumers as a goodwill gesture...

Another point I would like to add. If they couldnt honour the compensation, they shouldnt have taken the deposits. It really is that simple. If the Icelandic Government are paying out part of the compensation, then I would think they are liable for all of it and that the British taxpayer is helping out because they cant pay it all. Again, the question is how come they took all that money if their economy is only tiny in comparison, its disgusting the way the Icelandic Government has responded to this.

Aren't posts like this just a little bit sad and pathetic? (And yes, I got suckered by Icesave too).
Be angry at the Icelandic banks, the Icelandic government, the Icelandic PM. Fine, all perfectly understandable. But the entire Icelandic nation of ordinary citizens? Err, no.
It's a beautiful country, and Icelanders are on the whole fantastic people. I speak from experience. I can only feel sympathy for them right now.

I have to agree with this.

To advocate, even jokingly, that Iceland should be carpet bombed is quite simply reprehensible.

Makes us sounds like Americans going into laos or something.

With the technology we have now, precision bombing should be the only consideration.

Kerry Katona should be publicly flogged in front of the Icelandic embassy in london wearing just an Icelandic flag with a raw fish in her gob, that will teach the traitor...

Unfortunately with the persistent overfishing in Europe you won't be able to find a raw fish big enough.
