The problem is that it starts to update then fails.
should I uninstall it and reinstall another anti virus?
Probably due to a bad connection via your ISP, just leave it for a while and it may sort itself out. You are only missing the very latest virus definition updates since you last successfully updated. You could download the full update files and install them from the link fermi provided. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

I don't want to leave it long as it says I am not protected so its not running, wish It would just run without the updates - have never had this problem before.0 -

You are protected, just not fully protected with the very latest definitions added. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
We had AVG for a few years and had to resinstall it several times over that period when it would decide to stop updating.
Then when the new version came out a while ago we got so fed up with it we switched to avast. No problems so far with it.
Try reinstalling but if it's still pratting about, maybe be try something else?0 -

Seems others are also having problems on AOL, so it's likely that it's nothing to do with AVG. see here posted this morning. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hi
Over the last week or so (having just downloaded Windows updates) I have had to do a manual AVG update and scan daily. It will just not let me schedule the scan daily or set for regular updates (as set up before). I have uninstalled and then re-downloaded and problem still persists.
Any help and advice from the experts gladly received.
Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem as the original poster and have resolved it by downloading and running Malwarebytes programme. It took 10.5 hours to find 57 problems that AVG had not found. Anyway, problem now solved, AVG now updating.
Thank you to those who have recommended that piece of software on this site....Well pleased!

For the original op's problems ,
I had this problem and i found out the problem was the firewall , i use zonealarm and a pop up would pop out when i clicked update , make sure you always accept it . If you deny it it will come with your message.
So , in future just try disabling / turning off your firewall while it is updating and hopefully that should work
Hope this helps:dance: I am great , yes I am
:rotfl:If you think I was useful , Thank you, for thanking me
