I put £7000 in their ISA belonging to my mum and dad (not a big amount to some folk but a lot to my mum and dad and me) and honestly didn't know about the problems until I logged on tonight, I have gone from despair and feeling like !!!! to, thank christ it looks like i'll get the 7 grand back, it would be nice to get the interest too, but i'm just glad i'm getting the original deposit back, learnt a lesson though, I will probably only save in a GB bank from now on and will be emptying my ICICI account ASAP0

Yeah, I think we've all learned a lesson! If something looks too good to be true, it probably is.... And where iceland is concerned, it definately is!!
Of course I am happy to know that I will get my original money back, but I still think savers should receive interest upto the point of collapse. My isa money has been there for months, "earning" interest daily, but because I opted for annual interest, I'll get nowt! That simply isn't right, and in my opinion it's theft.0 -

If this turns out to be true, then I hope ICELAND sinks.
Some people are NEVER happy!

Huh? If you were under the £35k, how did you rack up £3k in accrued interest not yet credited (don't think they had any account close to 10%, and max time to credit was annually). Why are you a senior creditor, not a normal creditor?ChloeRadshaw wrote: »I for one am not happy about this,
I will be out of pocket by at least 3K as a result of this and I expect to be compensated - I m not a troll but a senior creditor to Icsave (which is fully regulated by the FSCS)
I was within the 35K protection limit - How are they allowed to do this>?0 -
Absolutely, I know I didn't have the greatest wodge of money in there, but based on my fixed bond I've worked out I'll be losing out on about £120. Sure I've thought about what I could buy with that, but yesterday I was facing up to losing my whole deposit. I think the experience is the main thing - I tried to be really honest with myself and analyse why I went with Icesave. Obviously I wanted my savings to be working as hard as they could for me, but ultimately for me *personally* I'll admit there was a degree of greed blinding me to some of the risk.I'll be very happy just to get my capital back and chalk the loss down to experience.
I do understand that there must be a lot of Icesavers out there with a lot more at stake in terms of annual interest, and I am making no judgement on their feelings about just how much more they stand to lose than me. I'm just blooming happy to be where I am right now, compared to how I felt last night.0 -

I'd insult you - but you're not bright enough to notice!:p0 -
LOL, I was reading the forum yesterday and sincerely hoping you all icelanders got your money back, and it is... ordinary joes cannot be said greedy, life is a bit*h and we all try our best shot... said that, alas and !!!!!!, how can some of you moan about interest after being hommaged of a total refund? Exceptional times, exceptional moves... probably time to donate part of your luckily reappeared bankroll to charities, as a grateful gesture to the taxpayer.0
