used 26 units of electricity today as compared to 18 yesterday.:mad:
no changes in electrical usage.
Could this be a faulty immersion heater? It occurs to me because it happened to us. If you turn EVERYTHING off, does the meter stop? Our immersion heater was heating even when off.0 -

When you put the washing on at night, when do you think the Economy 7 kicks in. Remember it will be 1 hour later in the summer, because the meter's clock doesn't change to BST. My E7 starts at 01:30 and goes through to 8:30 GMT in the winter, but in the summer I have E7 electricity from 2:30 through to 9:30 in the morning. It is worth checking the time that the meter kicks over to the higher rate.
I was told by EDF that it is between 12.30 and 7.30, I will try and stay up til 12.30 tonight and check! Thanks0 -

I know that we can in do a true like for like BUT Please can you look back over your last 7-8 actual bill and meter reading as I am looking closely at mine, if you look at my used trend its up, yet I have not more electric equipment and life style has not changed any... checked time switches etc....
I am now trying to get a handle on a rough ave for most people...
We are a 2+2 family work and school during week, 4 bed house and No Gas and on ECO 7 with EDF.

Sorry long way ride...
would have thought post would allow a table without reformating it.0 -
3 bed semi - elec - average 9 units per day.
I have no idea how we use so much. Im constantly making sure things are switched off.
We do have an old fridgefrezer, but no tumble drier. We also do have a plasma but this is only on in the evenings.0 -
we use around 12 units a day for a 3 bed semi, again I don't think that is a lot really when you consider washer is on most days (30 degree wash), kettle on and off, tv in the evening, laptop all day!, telephone and clock plugged in, lights on in evening (low energy bulbs) fridge freezer plugged in constantly, another fridge and chest freezer constantly, dishwasher once a day and tumble drier once or twice a week.
I think it is just the cost per Kwh is now so high that we all think we are using more than we actually are, there is only so much cutting down you can doAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
Currently using around 16-18 kwh per day in a 3 bed detached with two adults and two small children (someone in most of the day).
This is a 60% increase on last years consumption thanks to the addition of:
1) a tropical fish tank
2) electric heating in the garage conversion (existing central heating wasn't powerful enough to be extended)
3) a tumble dryer (even energy efficient ones use a huge amount)
4) a 10.5kw shower
5) underfloor heating in the bathroom (soooo nice on a cold morning)
