Family of six (adults and teens), someone here most of day, 3 bed house = between 8 and 16 units a day. Most days 11-13.
Not without effort though.
Edit: Expect this to increase a kwh or two a day over winter with tumble drier used most days.0 -
Family of 3, 2 adults 1 teenager
Huge 2 bed flat, gas CH & hot water, no washer or tumble dryer, gas hob.
We used 347 in August and 318 in September.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
shocking
i live with my girlfriend. we are out most of the day for work. maybe hour or so of tv a day when we are back, using energy saving bulbs, immersion heater set by timer to charge 1hour and i'll turn it on to charge before showering.also a hour or two using computer with internet.
no idea how i'm using 18 units. even worse...on my electricity bill my average for the quarter was 28 units a day.0 -
We were using 26 units a day some days this time last year. I've gradually brought it down to our average of 12 but that's without the drier. We have gas heating/hot water and cook by gas - in our last house, I couldn't get below 15-18 units but we had more rooms and cooked by electric.
The main things we've done:
- only wash at 30deg and use lowest temp prog on d/washer
- energy saving bulbs in most used lights/multi bulb lights
- TVs/DVDs/consoles not on standby; laptops hibernating or off when not used for more than about 20 mins
I know the last two don't make so much difference but, with four teens/20somethings, we have so many of them it all adds up.0 -
Family of four, large 3 bed detached. We use 9 on average. Gas heating and no tumble dryer but plenty of washing and a dishwasher load most days.
We use 9 in the summer and have tried to replicate it into the autumn, so far with success. What we have done -
Turned off our second fridge - use in summer for drinks and will need at christmas.
Replaced as many lights as possible with energy savers.
In all rooms put in small table lights with energy saving bulbs too (£5 each light from Asda)
Shown the children EONs energy tracker graph so they can see how much less we are using compared to last year and that keeps them up to scratch in turning lights off as well.0 -
Yellowsaver, I think you need to start doing a daily read, possibly even a morning and evening read for a week.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0

We have energy monitors (a plug in and the type you that measures household consumption) and they've been very useful identifying where savings can be made.0

We are a family of 5 and live in a large 4 bed detached house. We were using about 420 units per month (which equates to 14 units per day on a 30 day month) we have been on a gas and electric economy drive since the first week in August and have now reduced our electric to 370 units per 30 days (12.33 units per day.) We cook with gas and our CH is gas, the washing machine has been turned down to 30 degrees for the last couple of weeks so I will be interested to see what difference that has made when I read the meter again on 30 October, we also have a tumble drier (which I am trying desperately not to use....but it keeps raining!!!!!). We are currently using approx 30 units of gas per month which I am happy with but this is likely to increase as the weather gets colder. What is everyone elses gas consumption like?0

Gas is heading off the scale for us also.
29.5 for August, 38.5 for September that is measured in cubic meters.
October will be dreadful.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0
