3 bed house, 3 adults. Usually someone around most of the day. Washing machine, fridge, chest freezer. Comp on for about 7 hours, TV/ digital box around 4 housrs daily. Energy saving light bulbs pretty much everywhere, and even then, only on when we're actually using the rooms. We managed average of 6-7 units a day during summer. Now it's 7-8. Not only because lights are put on earlier, but doing a couple more wash loads a week as well.0

Last week we used 300, average around 25 units of peak and if the heater is on, about 50 off-peak a day. Last months was 1200, we live in a two bedroom apartment and work during the day.0

3 bed detached house undergoing renovation - Just under 10 units a day for the last 6 months. Last Winter we used 3kw fan heaters  so this year should be a lot cheaper now we have our new oil-fired boiler installed.0

Family of four, large 3 bed detached. We use 9 on average. Gas heating and no tumble dryer but plenty of washing and a dishwasher load most days.
We use 9 in the summer and have tried to replicate it into the autumn, so far with success. What we have done -
Turned off our second fridge - use in summer for drinks and will need at christmas.
Replaced as many lights as possible with energy savers.
In all rooms put in small table lights with energy saving bulbs too (£5 each light from Asda)
Shown the children EONs energy tracker graph so they can see how much less we are using compared to last year and that keeps them up to scratch in turning lights off as well.
what do you mean by 9. is this kw units?0 -
I meant. 9 electric units which are a kWh each.0

2 bed end terrace, 2 adults, 2 children.
GSH (old back boiler) and cooker.
Electric we use 11 units per day.
Gas in summer we use 1.75 units (m3) per day.
Gas in winter we use 6 units per day.
I take a reading a couple of times a week at 8:00am, just as I leave for work so these readings are pretty much spot on

Hi, can anyine tell me how these readings sound please?
I read the meter yesterday at 2.20pm and it said
1 - 56055
2 - 27894
I re-read it at 4.10pm today and they read
1 - 56068
2 - 27906
I am confused, does this mean we used 12kwh during the day and 13 during the night? That can't be right can it?
We live in a two bed flat, have night storage heaters and an immersion but I thought we had made changes so that our consumption would go down. Can anyone help? We are entirely electicty based.0 -

Why does it not sound right? What were you expecting to be lower? 12 or 13 daytime units seems neither frugal nor excessive.
I'm assuming you had the storage heaters on last night? If not, I'd agree it looks wrong.0 -
Hi,
I had expected the night time reading to be lower for some reason. This is the first time I have really started to look at our energy consumption and am just trying to find out how much we are using and if it is good.
Sorry yes we did have two storage heaters on last night.0
