At the moment I am on aol silver any time 512 speed i think, can I get any thing cheaper, havent a clue about how it all works.
am on the net all the while so need somthing that can cope with that and wont cost a fortune, I'm quite happy with the connection speed, although if I can get faster for cheaper I wont complain.
as you can tell I'm a compleate novice in this field.
Thanks
Frey

Can you reply back with your post code, and can check if any LLU providers are at your exchange.
Have you been with AOL silver for more than 12 months? (12 month contract).
There are a few standard BT wholesale ISP's that offer up to 2Mbps for around £14.99pm.
What do you use your connection for? Any P2P downloads?0 -
You haven't said how much you pay for the service. Anyway there are other broadband ISP's out there. So your first task should be to compare prices. You should find help on how to do this on this web site.
I won't recommend any ISP's as in my opinion they all have shortcomings in one form or another and it really boils down to personal taste and what you desire from your ISP.

aol has free fire wall which is good and has no caps or limits (not sure what they are)
I use adsl for connection.

I have just been to my mates house, and signed him up to Freedom2Surf,on their Connect Home 10gb/2mbps a month package,@ £17.01 + vat,and if you have a MAC code from your current supplier, and switch to them, there is NO activation charge,if you go on the 1 month contract packages, but do look carefully,as they do have rather a lot to choose from, and it can be confusing.
And you can use your own modem and filters, thereby saving money.
