I didnt get an extra £10.

Must be because I work for a living rather than claim benefits for it.

My point wasnt that people dont have real illnesses, or that I revel in the fact that they are ill, but I simply dont see why benefit claimants get an extra £10 each year.

As for Christmas, its not my time of year, so you will be glad to hear that I wont enjoy any Christmas parties whatsoever.

The £10 bonus was introduced as a vote catching exercise and nothing more.

Just keep your eyes peeled for WTC overpayment reclaim refunds. Thanks to the UK courts, it is now illegal for miscalculated benefit payments to be reclaimed.

    Got mine last week.

When the Christmas Bonus was first introduced it was set at £10 because that was the amount that a single pensioner got every week on a basic state pension in 1974 - it was intended as a way of paying an extra week's pension as a Christmas bonus. If it had been uprated every year to match the basic state pension it was originally linked to it would be £97.65 this year.

I have got £10 Christmas Bonus (State Pensioner) and so has husband (Incapacity Benefit).

Actually tbh I think that is one of the cuts the Coalition SHOULD make, what a waste of money.

Yes, I received it as I'm on DLA, but agree with you SDW that it should be cut.

I donated mine to charity and wouldn't miss it if it was cut.

I got a £10 bonus and I work. Claiming DLA doesn't stop someone from working.

I'm quite glad of my £10 bonus this year as personnel have messed up my pay this month so every little is helping.
