My point wasnt that people dont have real illnesses, or that I revel in the fact that they are ill, but I simply dont see why benefit claimants get an extra £10 each year.
As for Christmas, its not my time of year, so you will be glad to hear that I wont enjoy any Christmas parties whatsoever.0 -

When the Christmas Bonus was first introduced it was set at £10 because that was the amount that a single pensioner got every week on a basic state pension in 1974 - it was intended as a way of paying an extra week's pension as a Christmas bonus. If it had been uprated every year to match the basic state pension it was originally linked to it would be £97.65 this year.0

Actually tbh I think that is one of the cuts the Coalition SHOULD make, what a waste of money.
Yes, I received it as I'm on DLA, but agree with you SDW that it should be cut.
I donated mine to charity and wouldn't miss it if it was cut. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
I got a £10 bonus and I work. Claiming DLA doesn't stop someone from working.
I'm quite glad of my £10 bonus this year as personnel have messed up my pay this month so every little is helping.0
