Time to Boycott Iceland??

A week ago, I don't think anyone here would have entertained the idea of a successful and prosperous country such as Iceland could effectively go bust. With hindsight? With hindsight, everything looks obvious.
As for taking retribution against the country, the Chancellor is doing that on our behalf by threatening legal action against the Icelandic government. But if they can't pay, they can't pay. Simple as that. Maybe we could kidnap the Icelandic PM and not release him until he's paid us back?
Should the EU be helping them? Well, Iceland was more than welcome to join the EU, but took a decision to go it alone for fear of losing fishing rights. I'm afraid you can't go asking for help from the gang you didn't join.
Look on the bright side. If the Icelandic Crown continues its decline, it'll be cheap holidays and thermal baths all round.0 -
Surely Iceland-owned shares and other assets in Britain should be seized by the British government?
Not sure West Ham counts as an asset though.0 -

The payments don't have to be in pure hard cash. I am sure they have some gold reserves for times of war. Impose a tax on it's people to get 20% of their savings to pay the countries debts. Or perhaps negoiate a deal, whereby Iceland is British owned and they are more than happy to become our new nuclear dumping ground. Its a country after all, it'll have something of value to us that it can use as collateral or payment.0 -

Iceland is taking us for a mug.
Send the Royal Navy and sink it.
Nobody messes with us and gets away with it.0 -
Funny you mention boycotting Iceland.
I was thinking the exact same thing.
Maybe getting a web site together listing all products or stores that have links to Iceland so we can boycott them.0 -
I have just taken the children's "Mastermind with Magnus Magnusson" board game and consigned it to the flames. A small, but symbolic gesture. I've also told the tiny children that if they're naughty, an Icelander will hide under their bed and eat them up.0

Quote from Kwintessential.co.uk about business ethics in Iceland:
"Avoid setting false expectations or making promises that you cannot keep as honesty (and straight talking) are respected in Iceland"
