Frankly, if I get my money back I think I'll put it into NS&I, just as a gesture of appreciation!!
Too right!
This is a relief, and probably the first time I've ever wanted to shake a politician's hand.0 -
I'd to like to know the same, how can we can claimm this money back?Do we have to wait for a letter to arrive?Seems quite long winded way.I'm a happy man this morning after the news.Even happier since I have seen this :
3. Arrangements are being put in place to ensure that all ISA customers of Icesave will continue to benefit from the tax-free status of their accounts.0 -

On ITV news last night, they were saying the money has to be returned within 3 months according to EU rules. but since rulebooks have been thrown out the window these last 24 hours, i reckon we're looking at closer to a year. i hope I'm wrong.0

That's just speculation though. I'm not saying that won't happen, but its probably best to base any statements on facts.0 -
I withdrew practically all my cash from Icesave on the evening of 6th October to be safe and transferred it to a Halifax and an HSBC account.
Does anyone know if this transaction will go through as it was not until the 7th when the the processing of withdrawal requests was stopped.

You've got to feel sorry for the Icelandic people too, though. There are only 320,000 of them, compared to 300,000 IceSave depositors so paying up to 16k each when their currency has dropped around 40% against the £ in recent months has got to be tough.
The vast majority of them have nothing to do with IceSave and their country is facing ruin.
Having said that - I still want my savings back!
As an aside - I visited Iceland a few years ago and it is a really great country to visit with incredible sights to see. It was pretty expensive to visit then, but with their currency dropping so much it's probably quite cheap now so well worth a visit!"I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -

Cheers.
If you transferred by BACS, you could be unlucky.
Under the BACS system, it is not until the THIRD banking day after the transfer request that Icesave actually has to part with the money - even though your account shows that the money has been withdrawn!!
The consensus on this website is that Icesave will not part with the money!
I - and thousands of others - are in the same boat. We thought we had got out in time, but apparently not.0
