    Just to let you know that it all went through today and i am now BR.

    Not quite sure how I feel at the moment, bit numb, part relieved, but will feel better once I have spoken to the OR and know my situation.

    Thanks to everyone who has answered my questions on this post and all the other posts on the forum, it really is a fantastic resource.

    My experience was identical to single+angels http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1165189&highlight=high+court+bankruptcy apart from the fact that i did need the three copies of 6.28 and I didnt't go to primark:D. So your best to take three copies of 6.28 just in case.

    I'm sure i will have more questions on the OR interview so watch this space.

    Thanks

  • I have one question Brillo, how old are you? sorry it's a personal question but might be relevant to your plight and everyone elses in your situation.

    I am sorry Jan but what has his age got to do with the price of fish, so to speak? Please can you elaborate?

    Well another day of stress, arguments, indicision, uncertaintanty, panic, confusion,no money, and to top it all its chucking it down here:mad:

    Anyway a question for Brillo & Deedee if yuo dont mind.

    I notice Brillo that your first post saying that you were thinking of going BR was on the 8th of this month and you went BR on the 14th? Is that from the very beginning of the process or am I being a bit thick:confused: Just seems a lot quicker than I'd imagined.

    First posted on here on the 8th but have been looking at this forum for a while. I suppose I had been considering BR since June and maybe should have considered it before then too, but didn't want to look at how bad things really were.

    Mark, things can happen very quickly if you really need it to ie phone debt charity and get advice, phone county court and establish whether you need an appointment or it is a walk in service, make appointment if appropriate, fill in forms online, go to court with forms and money, have forms stamped and you are bankrupt.

    Most people need time to get the money together or the courts may not have any appointments for a while or quite rightly they want to explore all the implications that going bankrupt will bring on them.

  • Thanks both of you for that.

    Deedee you seem to be a mine of info so I've got some more for you;

    If we deicde that MrsL is to go BR will the OR look at my soa as well. I ask as from the start of us living together we have always had joint accounts and share everything out bills wise. I'm not into having seperate private accounts when your wed.

    If you have a joint account then it will be frozen.Your best bet is to open a new joint cashminder account with the Co-op before she goes bankrupt and get every thing transfered over. Or you can just take her name off the joint account and she could open a cashminder to have some spending money in though I suspect you won't like that option.

    All the OR is interested in is how much you contribute to the household bills and that it is a fair amount. This doesn't have to be your full wages. Bankruptcy is an individual thing and the OR is only interested in your OH. Though saying that when the OR requests bank statements as they are joint he will see your spending.

    Hope MrsL is ok today.
