Hi there, excellent advice so far from everyone but i have a problem.. I have a pre pay BREADCARD and am wondering if i can keep it when i go BR in 2 months? The reason i ask is because these cards are aimed at people to use while BRupt, so seems pointless taking mine off me only to replace it a day later? Cheers, Steve.
You should have no problems keeping your PAYG card as long as its not a huge ammount loaded on it...carefuk though as some OR's think they are some type of credit card..so you might need to explain to them!We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
Will do, thanks deedee and phil. Ive got around £100 on it, but that will soon drop to a tenner on the day of judgement just incase
!! I wont mention the card tho.!

Is it ok to add my question to Brillo's? I have been reading these boards on and off for at least the last year and am finally having to bite the bullet and go through with The Big B, after fighting very hard not to for so long. Anyway, a first question if that's ok - I have just cancelled all the direct debits from my bank. How do I now go ahead and arrange the payment of those for the next month or so, until hopefully I have a new post-BR account set up? What do I tell these creditors - electricity, BT, landlord, car insurance, rates etc? I feel as though I am walking on eggs, and don't want to say the wrong thing. Many thanks, Resurgam.
Hi just bumping really, in case someone can answer my probably daft question. Thanks.0 -

Any property or sums due to you under a will or trust
Do i need to put that I am on my parents will even though they are still going strong?0 -
i think its about wills/trusts that are in the process of paying out. Whatever the legal term for it is (probate?)"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

I personally would think you sign them in the court house when they are signed by the person there, so it is witnessed if you get my meaning.
You may be in a will but if the people are still alive I do not think you put it either.
When you say creditors you are talking here about rent and rates and electric do you mean these are creditors or DDS.. if DD what I have said above opening a new account.
RL
DDs can be set up after the event, and you could pay in cash for a month or so if needbe, just phone them and tell them you are changing bank accounts so no payment this month, unless they have already had it.Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0 -

No. Property or sums are not due to you under a will until people have died. Your parents could, in theory, change their wills tomorrow and leave everything to the cats' home.
If, say, your Granny died last month, and left you £10k in her will, but you've not got the money yet as the probate etc is all still going through, you'd need to mention that....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
