Hi Stumpy
Yes, you know the traps the credit card companies want us to fall into and I do too. With any luck everybody who visits this wonderful website knows that as well - so there is a solid mass of people fighting against these companies 'getting away with it'.
But I for one don't expect it all to flow my way and to be able to squeeze every last concession out of these companies. I am realistic enough to realise that they have to make a living too!!
Whatever you make from stoozing, whether it's £20 or £200, is a form of permitted rip-off from the credit card companies, exactly as they try to rip off unsuspecting credit card users by their various tricks and traps. It's open warfare in which MSE members are to some extent protected - but not completely!
I have taken on board that you are female (your word) and I have carefully checked my post for anything disrespectful or sexist. I don't feel there is anything of this kind included. I am in any event very appreciative of females of the opposite sex and enjoy their company etc. On the topic, I am quite convinced that Stumpy is totally the wrong name for you - it very much gives the wrong message. Even without knowing you in person, the pen-names Gorgeous, Sweetness and Light, Doll, or even Balance Transfer Princess would suit you so much better.0 -

Schiff - I wasn't implying that you had been sexist - and I know my username could be either/or - I just wanted to let you know as usually "Mate" is reserved for the male of the species!
And "Stumpy" is just one of those nicknames that has stuck - down to my rather short stature, I believe! The other option was Baldrick - a nickname given to me some time ago in a rather derogatory manner, but which I thought was rather good - Baldrick to me always seemed a tadge cleverer than he appeared! Wibble.:D0 -
Stumpy - I knew you weren't! It was just a bit of gentle fun. I think mate is a nice word for females too - I use it often when I refer to my grand-daughter going out with her mates (though these include lads as well of course).
I think you must be delightfully unconceited (not a word, but you know what I mean). Being prepared to have IDs which imply shortness in height and baldness. That's nice.0 -
Stumpy - you are privileged, that was my post number 147, which means a lot to males of the species.
And I forgot to add some smilies, something I normally do. So have some now!
 :A0 -
I think age is catching up with me
I now see that my last post was 148 and looking back, all my posts on this thread are 148 - strange.
Not a Middlesbrough fan are we?
  :beer:0 -
Now they are all 149.
I think I might go back to bed and start all over again.0 -

LOL. That gave me a bit of a chuckle! It is very confusing isn't it - the counter shows how many posts in total you've made, rather than the number of that particular post. Not a Middlesbrough fan are we?
By association rather than design - my husband is a fan, barmy that he is. We've had a few choice words thrown at the TV in the course of the last few weeks, I can tell you!Being prepared to have IDs which imply shortness in height and baldness. That's nice.
Definately NOT bald! Baldrick refers to a Black Adder character? He was usually the smelly servant who always took great pains to appear daft (hmmmm - maybe I should have stuck with "bald"?!)0 -
I think Mr Stumpy has had a reasonable season all round, so I don't really understand the cursing at the TV. As far as the league is concerned maybe that warrants a curse or three - as with me (Man City). Now if you had told me that he had developed a stomach ulcer from watching them claw back from impossible positions to win the day (on more than one occasion too) - that I could have understood.
Give him my best wishes for Wednesday please. I can see it now - ten minutes to go and Borough down 0-2. They get a penalty and Southgate puts it over the bar. Hasselbank scores a blinder. Another penalty and Hasselbank puts it away. Well into injury time, Yakubu slips when shooting into an open goal. It hits the inside of the post; a defender, trying to clear, hits the inside of the other post from where it bounces against the back of the goalkeeper's left leg and over the line - AND THE CUP IS OURS!!!!!

That's just about the long and the short of it - he's wearing a hole in my carpet - all the pacing up and down and gesticulating he's doing. It is quite good fun watching him screech and jump up and down when they do win tho! :rotfl:schiff wrote:Give him my best wishes for Wednesday please. Oh I do hope so - they always seem to like to do things the hard way - which is apparently why large amounts of beer is drunk during a match
Either way, he's taken Thursday off - he suspects he may have a sore head! (plus cricket starts - whoooppeeeee!)0 -
WATCH OUT!!!
Egg treat the transfer fee as a purchase and charge interest on it. Therefore you are accumulating charges right from the off. Any payments you do make, only 2% will be used against purchases!! NOT free balance transfer after all. I moved £1000, fee £20, interest already £3.18 after 2 months.!! Disgusted.0
