OK, Here's the Deal!
Have got an MBNA card with £1400 on it. Would like to transfer to 0% card with no fee for preference.
However, Hubby has just lost job and we are both on JSA and Child Tax Credits.
What are our options? As obviously if i did this i could clear such a small amount fairly quickly and up my credit limit (as his REALLY STINKS!!) which In turn would clear my other debts.......
Any help would be greatly appreciated......

First post so be gentle! Just thought I'd share this potential, albeit convoluted 0% interst cash advance
As recommended by this website I got a Bank Of Ireland (BoI) Moneyback credit card a couple of months back - no problems, gave me a relatively stingey £3k limit but never mind.
Having racked up that limit now necessitates a balance transfer card - again MSE.com was consulted &, thank you Martin, I got in under the wire of the Barclaycard offer (10mth 0% zero fee balance transfer).
Here's the wrinkle - I've just effected the balance transfer and Barclaycard inform me that they do not have BoI 'on their system' to perform a direct balance transfer. No problem though they will credit my bank account with the transfer amount & then I'll have to pay BoI myself.
Fantastic! I've ended up with hard cash from them!!
Since no perceptable check was performed to verify the existing credit card debt I wish now I'd told them a higher amount and got the maximum 0% cash advance for 10 months!!
Cheers

can anyone help ! have just applied on line for 0 % balance transfer card from hbos macmillan card as advised . selected for 2200 to be transferred but right at the end it states I have a 2100 credit limit. There is no contact number or e mail link. Will they just transfer the £2100 or as the amount requested is more than my limit will they just do nothing.0

Contrary to Martin's Article, LTSB Amex Rewards is no longer fee-free to new applicants, it's now 2% uncapped:

Hi everyone,
I am after quite a bit of help and advice!
I’m looking for the best 0% on balance transfer and 0% on purchases credit card currently going. I know Martin did say (and I quote) “Never, ever, ever, ever spend on a card after balance transferring to it!” – but I think (and hope) this warning doesn’t apply to this kind of credit card. I’m not too bothered about the length of time, but obviously the longer they are for the better it is! It would also be great if transferring the balance on my current credit card would be free. So here starts my question!
There is a table detailing quite a few credit cards, with details like the length of the deals and if there are any salary requirements etc – found here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1122985312,39518,
But please could someone explain the three columns on the right, “Fees free BTs only on application or first few weeks”, “Fees free BTs during entire introductory 0% period” and “Always fees free” to me in a bit more detail.
Sorry for being so thick, but I am! I’m guessing the best one will be the “Always fees free”, but I’d just like some confirmation!
Also, as a side note, are there any ways of finding out your credit score, and if so, are there any free ways?
Many thanks for anyone’s help in advance,

With reference to the link fromTRS8. I have just recieved my credit card from the RBS. Before I applied, I checked thru MSE and I read the chart referred to by the above member. The RBS is quoted as a 9 month interest free BT. I took this at face value. I checked the RBS website link, and must have missed the bit about 0% for current account holders only. 2% for all the rest!!?? Which I must have missed. I never read the small print, (lesson learned). So MSE.com I think this chart is a little misleading. I told RBS I dont believe in paying 2% BT, and please cut up the card. That card laste about 1 hour 15 mins.
Ah well, back to the drawing board :eek:0 -

BTs for Natwest/RBS customers must be done in first three months to avoid the fee.0

Thanks YorkshireBoy. You are right of course. I did miss the bit about RBS/Natwest current account holders. Which makes me a little bit sicker than I was previously. When I spoke to RBS customer services. She never asked if I had a Nat West current account. I have a savings account with them, whether this would qualify ,I'm not sure. Ahh well0
