Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I'll have to call tomorrow morning - this is scary !

I tried a third time but didn't complete it deliberately - at the withdrawal request stage it shows :
    available balance £xxxx
    (current balance less future withdrawals)

So the 'current balance' should show pence (because of the future pending withdrawal) but it's not - it's processing the request then binning it !
  • I have done the same as Smitty, ..... (wish I could have done it with my Icesave account yesterday) I will have to wait and see if it goes through tomorrow

Of course why didn't I think of that. So because transactions occur the following working day the web site rejects your request. You need to wake up and smell the coffee. You should also have a look at other banks websites where you can request a transaction anytime of the day or night and it will be STORED ready for the following day transactions. Also from my experience this has also been the case with KE in the past.

Oh so you also clog up the system on other banks websites, you should try concentrating on the ones you bank with, then you wouldnt get so confused.
Im not that Anal to waste my time looking at other banks websites, i'm only interested in the T&C's of the ones i bank with.
chaps £20k out KE 06/10 in A&L 06/10 same day

I will never understand why people like you bother posting in forums if all you are trying to do is score points is some wierd game. What possible use are your two postings in this thread to anybody.
  • Given the situation with icesave today which is no doubt causing extra movements of cash between banks, you would be wise not to panic, and to give them an extra day to make the payment in case it is caught in a bottleneck.

I tried to withdraw some money from my Kaupthing account too.

No confirmation of withdrawal, and no response to my "Secure message" after 2 days.

I wanted a BACS transaction to honour a cheque I've had to write.

I'm having to withhold other payments until I know the money has been transferred.

The current situation is no excuse for messing people about.
  • Just to say that i tried ringing Kaupthing Edge today (about 30 times!) and got an engaged tone every time.

they are probably a bit busy because of people like you overloading the system, if you took time to read the T&C first, you would have known about transactions during the weekend being carried out on the first working weekday

I put in a request by bacs to empty my account on Sunday 28th. After the last screen it showed a balance of 0.00. I had the money in my linked account by the 2nd when i checked on the Thursday. I then logged back in to clear the interest which had been re calculated, i then totally emptied the account of the £60 left. All this is fact, no scare mongering just trying to explain to people how the system worked for me.

In your position i wouldn't worry too much just yet, as the chances are everyone is trying to get their money out at the same time and collapsing the system. I would think about trying again in the wee small hours when it's less likely to be busy. Good luck.

Totally agree with you. The only thing I can say is there are quite a few of us in the same boat and hopefully things will be resolved soon. I guess KE have no idea what impact their incompetence is having on peoples lives.

You will find a hardcore of people on this forum who jump to the conclusion that you are panicing and trying to withdraw all your money and therefore adding to the problem. What people fail to realise is that we need to withdraw money from KE to fund our daily lives as we have done since we opened an account with them.
