Yes and as of today they still list Icesave (not for long I am sure) and KE amongst the top AER saving accounts, same as Martin did.0 -
I was mortified the way Martin was treated last night on C4 news. If Jon Snow ever cycles past me on the southbank again I shall poke a stick in his spokes  it was like he was determined to have a fight, I've lost any respect for him.0

Hehe, it does make you think, doesn't it. I don't take news interviews as gospel, but when you don't know the back-story of the interviewee being attacked you're kind of seduced into thinking they're pure evil. Then you see it happening to Martin, where you have a vague idea of the background, and it makes you wonder on how many other counts you've been misled.0 -

:rotfl: sorry, I know it's not funny, but these posts did make me chuckle!0 -
Much to my amusement, the fact that we "speculated" on a bank in foreign shores (despite the fact that it was operating in the UK, offering government implemented products, the ISA) which now has a compensation scheme that will not pay out,
DOES NOT MATTER! We are going to get our money back, and that's from Alistair Darling (read the BBC news article).
We took advantage of the high interest rates, and the only thing we are going to lose out on is a couple of months interest whilst the money is recovered.
Nay-sayers, I burp in your general direction. Who cares for your opinion, we are getting our money back and that is all that matters.0 -
In common with a few of you here I thought Jon Snow's attack on Martin Lewis last night was rather ridiculous, he clearly hadn't read or been shown any of the material Martin Lewis has put out on banking. It was unfortunate that Martin Lewis used the word 'dodgy' off the cuff but the interview was very hostile (Snow is mimicking Paxman a bit too much on a regular basis), and although the researchers must have thought they'd hit TV sympathy gold with a disabled man who'd lost his life savings, the speech difficulties made for an absurd and pointless exhange.
I find this site very informative and it has helped me make some investment decisions, but that's all it is, 'informative.' I have sympathy for 'the Icesave 300,000' but the whole 'bridge & jump' question from my childhood just keeps coming back.
Anyway, I'm not attacking anyone but just want to register support for Martin Lewis.0 -
I'd like to thank martin and the website - the advice here has saved me at least hundreds with various offers and tips.
As for the savings debacle, thanks to Martins tips i moved my savings out of barclays rediculously low e-savings account and into an ISA. I had to choose between NS&I and Icesave which were the highest according to this website and had to level out the pros and cons of each. I ended up in NS&I. The facts and risks involved were clear, as is everything on this wonderful site. Although it's unfortunate for those who will now have to wait for compensation, i think that placing any blame on Martin or this site is rather misplaced. We all had a choice; put money into a foreign bank or into our own government's sceme for a rate of 0.1% less.
The choice was yours not Martin's.
I applaud martin for helping me and many others invest their money more wisely (the diffence between barclay's 3.something% and NS&I/IceSave's 6.something% is incredible!).
Thanks to Martin and the Team, keep up the good work, Joe0
