I'm very pleased for you all and I'm sure you'll all get your money now. Having sat on my hands ressisting the urge to transfer out, I hope that ING will reward me as a 'loyal customer' with preferential rates....

    ...and pigs might fly LOL

Here is an interesting thought for those who believe in the backlog.
    What Backlog? The
[SIZE=-1]Bank Automated Clearing System (BACS) is as the name suggested automated which means no human interactivity required. All ING has to do is to release the BACS / CHAPS transactions into the global banking network and Robert is your father's brother - things will be processed as per norm within the usual timescales.

Call me old fashioned but I think they are using this to fob people off as most people will believe it as a plausable reason of why they have not received their money.

This isn't quite true. The payment is automatic in that it is made electronically. But your pushing the button doesn't initiate the payment. The clearing system for CHAPS is *never* directly to the bank's own e-banking platform.

Typically, the way it'll work is that the e-banking platform will send your transfer order on to the bank's payments team (or whatever they happen to be called). They will then carry out a few basic checks - e.g., authorisation, availability of funds, etc. - and enter the transfer order into the CHAPS system. Once that's done, everything else is automatic. What's been happening with Kaupthing is that this second step hasn't been getting done. So yes, ING Direct do really have a veritable mountain of pending transfer requests to sort through.

If you transfered money by BACS on Tuesday and have now received it in your nom account can you let me know ... I did at about 10:30 am on Tuesday.

£2000 BACS requested on Saturday has arrived in the last hour. Just waiting for the £500 I requested by BACS on Tuesday now. Will have to have a serious think about what to do with the remaining balance. As ING seem to have been a great help, I am minded to leave it where it is until the dust settles a bit, but will decide over the weekend.

I may even get some sleep tonight.

To quote from General Melchett (Blackadder Goes Forth)......................."Thank you Darling!"
No reliance should be placed on the above.
