Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer

Please see the message below that I have received from C4 News. I will not be able to do this as I have commitments that I can't get out of. However, if anyone wants to take this offer up please PM me and I will pass on her contact details;
"I work for Channel 4 News. Thank you for getting in touch with us in what must be a very stressful period. We're keen to speak to you about your experiences, perhaps as an interview tomorrow morning - friday - for our lunch and evening programmes. Crucially, are you in London and would you be prepared to be interviewed?
Thank you,
Victoria"0 -
There is now a story on TMF :
http://www.fool.co.uk/news/your-money/savings/2008/10/09/wheres-my-kaupthing-cash.aspx
key part :
<H3>So is my money safe?
As I said at the beginning of this article, the good news for Kaupthing Edge customers is that everyone I’ve spoken to today is sure they’ll get all their money back.
The spokesperson from Kaupthing was especially keen to reassure customers that they wouldn’t lose a penny.
So I’d advise Kaupthing Edge savers to try and stay calm -- and watch all their accounts very carefully over the next few days to see if (and where) their missing money turns up.0 -
Spoke to the Helpline at FSCS just before 5pm, and she referred me to:
"In the case of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander, FSCS understands that the accounts of about 3,000 eligible retail depositors did not transfer to ING Direct. FSCS will contact these depositors directly in the next week with the help of the administrators and send them an application form to claim compensation."
I asked if someone would put in black and white that we fell into this category, but in effect, she's only on the helpline (wouldn't even give her name, because I said I would post her response on this site).
Their view is that we should only listen to FSCS and the Treasury, as everything else is speculation.
It's a pity that the silence from both these organizations on this situation has been deafening.....0 -
well done trevs707! Thanks for getting us noticed in the media and getting a Channel4 interview.
Thanks and Good luck nomorekids! Don't let them off that easily in the interview. Most of us paid £20 for privileged CHAPS transfer for the funds to be available in our account within 24 hours. It has been 3 days for some and the funds never turned up. Some of us (including me) made BACS transfer on saturday and still no money no where.
Issues:
We can't get hold of KE that easily to get an answer.
FSCS, ING, KE (if we manage to get hold off) all give conflicting answers.
Where is our money?
Why nobody can give us straight answers?
What we want:
Simple we want our money back.
If there are problems within the system then we want to know what they are, when they will be resolved and when can we have our money?
We will consider and be happy if our money bounce back to our KE/ING accounts and then we will consider further action after the dust settles off
That's some of the questions you need to ask whoever represents the banks (be that ING or KE etc)0 -
Hi guys,
Just a quick note to let you know that we are following this up strongly and attempting to get proper answers.

hi folks,
i had a call from the bbc and have been penciled in for a tv interview - waiting for the greenlight back from them.
i don't mind looking like a panicing numpty with accounts with Icesave and Kaupthing, at the end of the day they were both being operated in the UK under the FSA paying tax to the UK gov. as for the panic if anyone else had seen their savings in one icelandic bank go under im pretty sure they'd have made the same moves to shift their cash out of the other bank asap...
if anyone gets a chaps transfer before the day is out *please* let us know, right now this is a big black hole story - if the money starts to come in i'll then look a bit of an out of the loop spoon!
Thanks from us all.0 -
If you tried to make a transfer from your Kaupthing Edge savings account this week -- and you're still missing your money -- here's what may have happened to it.

I have managed to get a hold of someone on Channel 4 newsdesk. She has advised me of the line up in tonights program, and there is an article about Icesave, but she couldn't advise if it would include anything about Kaupthing Edge.
I have given her a full rundown on the current situation regarding the many unhappy MSE & KE customers who are in this 'limbo' at present due to the fact KE are still letting people transfer money out of accounts, even though it may not even get to destination accounts or may even get reversed. I am also furious about lack of clarity on KE's Website.
Speaing today to KE, ING, FSCS and FOS has achieved nothing.
It's quite ironic that the people who are sitting tight are going to be automatically taken across to ING possibly without loosing a penny. I personally didn't want this due to Dutch regulation and not english.
I don't suppose anyone's seen ANY BACS/CHAPS transfers out of KE this week?
Are KE Call Centre staff just acting on info they currently have (ie, they don't know if money is leavng KE via BACS/CHAPS?). When I called KE earlier, they said that CHAPS was done via London head office (KSE) which is now in Administration.0 -
Thanks Dan,
Even if they just put everyone's money back into the KE account and ING sorted it out that would be something!
I think alot of people are looking for reassurance because it seems that KE and ING are saying, "yes, if you had money in KE, it's 100% safe", noone is answering the question as to people who transferred from Sunday to Tuesday whether it be via BACS or CHAPS before ING took direct control of KE.
Thanks once again,
