To be honest , im no money saving expert , i only took advice from here to invest in KE , dont wanna look a dummy on tv lol.....maybe someone with better understand could go on , i remember when i did go on a program they picked me up by a car for my travel to the studio so this maybe an option

So they may actually pick you up and take you back home , i know this is what i requested and got , so its worth asking if you really want to go on

I requested 20K chaps yesterday morning. spent most of the day following this thread and phoning Kaupthing only to be told all CHAPS payments would be honoured.

Totally panicked, I telephoned ING who told be Kaupthing is operating in the normal way and my CHAPS may take longer.

TODAY Kaupthing has just informed me that whilst my balance is now 0 with the amount requested showing up as CHAPS across PLUS the £20 fee (what cheek), the CHAPS request has only got as far as head office
AND THERE IS NO LONGER A HEAD OFFICE TO PROCESS THE REQUESTS FURTHER AS ING HAS TO COMPLETE THE TRANSFER PROCESS NOT KAUPTHING. This could take weeks, where is my money?

I'm only a train ride from London, consider me volunteered, I have had enough.

Im tempeted , but what is it they actually what to interview for?? just because its taking longer then normal to withdraw?

It is worrying yes , but until we know where we stand then there is no point crying about it.

They will get someone from ING to make an official statement. That's all we want.

Another for the growing list then guys & gals...

Requested transfer of £97k on the 6th via CHAPS.
Money left account on the 7th

    Nothing has arrived.

gues what.... I've been told it will "just be a matter of time...."

Sorry - I think we are being sold down the river here.

If there were some people here that had received something, I could buy the "backlog" story.

What are these people doing? Not processing ANYTHING at all.

NOONE here has received any money.

If we are not under the ING umbrella because we transferred out prior to the takeover, and only covered upto the £50k compensation scheme, I will be SERIOUSLY pi&&ed off.

You sound exactly what we need (i.e. Someone who puts their trust in the bank without being some kind of Financial Expert). All I think it needs is for someone to highlight the problem that KE have created by the conflicting messages they (& ING) are sending out and the lack of guidence regarding the transfers pre-8-Oct-08. It may all be OK, but why don't they tell us that, why keep us in the dark.

that's what they told me, THEY ARE NOT PROCESSING ANYTHING AT ALL.
MY CHAPS REQUEST IS SHOWING AS AT TODAY WHICH IS AFTER THE TAKEOVER, IS THIS SIGNIFICANT? DO I COME UNDER THE ING UMBRELLA BECAUSE I REQUESTED THIS BY PHONE YESTERDAY MORNING BEFORE THE TAKEOVER.

  • Well, I initiated a BACS transfer out of KE on Monday morning (before everything went bang) to cover a mortgage over-payment cheque. No sign of that arriving as of 10 minutes ago. I also initiated a CHAPS transfer at 06:35 this morning for the same amount in a desperate attempt to cover the cheque - and this hasn't shown up at the receiving bank yet either - and from the look of it, it may not even show up this week.

So, I now have about 10.5k floating around the banking ether in the form of BACS and CHAPS transfers, and a cheque for half that amount that is about to bounce (pretty high) if I can't set up a emergency finding in the next few hours. I have to laugh ...... really! I have no other accounts I can raid to cover this cheque, so I'm kind of stuffed!

Assuming I can sot this out, I will be looking to recover all of my costs from ING/KE for this mess, as to my way of thinking they entered into a contract with me to move my money the same day by taking the CHAPS fee, and made no effort to warn me that the transfer may not be the same day (I've only just stumbled across this thread)!

I finally got through to KE who say that the backlogged ACS/CHAPS transfers will be honoured (and doubtless they will), they just cannot say when. However, what really rubs me up the wrong way is that you can still initiate a CHAPS transfer via the KE website!!!!!!
  • Add me to the list. BACS transfer request from KE on Friday afternoon. Money debited from account on Monday - need I say, no sign of it.

Same thing has happened to me with IceSave. I thought I was jumping ship in the nick of time - how wrong can you be.
