Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer

About 15000 pounds worth.
I'm not even sure that ING _can_ get interest on the missing KE money. To get interst they'd have to either lend it to someone, or invest it. I don't see them managing to do either of those things, given that it's missing because it's earmarked for passing on to the owners' linked accounts. They don't get interest on it just by not handing it over instantly.
Why are you worrying about it. ING have said in writing they will sort out the interest for the delay so why try to create a further problem. I need my money like everyone else and know they are doing their best.0 -
3am - got woken by kids - can't sleep - just checked my account in weird middle of the night hope/moment of desperation - no money through yet (sigh) Oh well....0

why worry about it?!
Guess it all depends how much money you have and how much you trust the banks at the moment...
The initial relief that ING had taken over the reigns has turned to frustration and resentment for many and the lack of detailed updates shows their lack of real concern
I will not be investing with ING because I am not happy with how they are handling this0 -
Martin seems like a decent enough bloke and like most of us he's an opertunist. He has rode the crest of the wave for a year or two now and timed his career beautifully to coincide with the recession, but also like most of us sometimes things fall flat and it all goes t**s up for a while!
Intially I thought of Martin as an annoyance, a mosquito in the room sort of feeling, or the mis-fit at school, but gradually I started to listen to him and thought he had something credible to say. The machine-gun voice is still annoying but he must have saved thousands of pounds for thousands of people and deserves to be cut a bit of slack. Maybe he should be abit more vocal on this thread but my main beef is with ING now.0 -
Still no money, eight days, this is nothing short of a f***** joke now, I've emailed the manager I spoke with on Thursday.
But I'm going to go the Police route at the end of the day if I don't get a cast iron guarantee my money will be home by the morning.
This situation is UNACCEPTABLE.0 -

Dear Martin,
You are probably the wrong person to send this to, however yours was the best email contact I could find off the website. And as head of Corporate Communications you at least will have the right contacts, and may well be the right person anyway - since this is a at least a company communication issue.
There are a lot of Kaupthing Edge customers out there that initiated transfers from their KE accounts in the run up to it keeling over, and who have those transactions debited from their KE accounts but failing to show up at the appropriate destination. Many customers of KE were probably also customers of IceSave. So they are both particularly nervous/twitchy, and in many cases have other money 'locked up' in deepfreeze (no pun intended). For reassurance they could do with simply more transparency, and in order to plan their finances at a difficult time they could do with some more hard facts.
Since this - and ING Direct - are internet accounts, most of those customers are internet savvy. They frankly feel that they are getting more information by sharing stuff between themselves on forums than they feel they are getting from ING. There are forum boards virtually dedicated to tracking 'who transferred when, has it appeared yet, transfers dried up on Monday, was it BACS or CHAPS?'.
There are many for whom a sense of relief that, having come to this, at least a new 'home' for their deposits were found, compared with IceSave, is now turning into a feeling of "where is the REAL communication". In general the responses people are getting from call centre staff are viewed as platitudes. Not surprising - they probably don't know either. And the web posted stuff is not giving any real reassurances/certainties.
I'm sure the value to ING of taking on the KE depositers is entirely a 'good will' one i.e. ING hopes that a significant proportion of former KE depositers will stay with ING in the future. If that is to be the case, then some clearer communication would be in INGs interest, as well as the ex-KE depositers caught in this position. Otherwise there is a real risk that those customers caught up in this problem will have less trust in ING than they could, and will head for the door as soon as they can.
What people are really looking for is some more definitive information, that is more reassurring than what are viewed as 'soothing statements'. As one person put it:
>>How hard can it be for ING to put the following information out:
"When we took over KE on 8 October 2008 there were [NUMBER] BACS transactions and [NUMBER] CHAPS transactions outstanding. To date we have successfully processed [NUMBER] BACS transactions and [NUMBER] CHAPS transactions. [We are processing transactions in order of [DATE/AMOUNT/ACC NUMBER/ALPHABETICALLY]] OR [We are processing transactions in no particular order] and expect the backlog to be cleared by [DATE]."
This information MUST be relatively straightforward to obtain. All we want it to be informed and treated like grown-ups who have more than one brain cell. Fobbing us off with "honestly, trust us, we're working as hard as we can" is quite pathetic.<<
You quoted my forum post in your email!! I feel so proud and honoured...

I used to work for Kaupthing Edge. The money is secure so its just a case of being patient!
Dont go OTT and go to the police as they will laugh at you. I still havent had my money back and it has been 12 days!
Had a call from KE yesterday and they are working it. There is a backlog and they are working on it. I know its frustrating but hang in there and you money will apear soon.0 -

My new puppy is at the stage where she picks up any small object and chews on it. On Sunday morning I picked her up faced her head down and opened her mouth and out popped a pound coin. Got to be an omen there I feel.
Make sure shes insured.Nice to save.0 -
