Actually ING offer guarantees up to 100k Euro so technically your money is more covered there. Protected though, maybe, who knows but they're not exactly going to fold a week after taking on the saving deposits from KE are they?

    From the Treasuries statement:-
    http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/press_102_08.htm
wasn't it the FSA that pushed that Kaupthing over the Edge (poor pun intended), by 'calling in' their UK operations & sequestering their UK assets - in the best national interests of course.

Just as well , as some smaller countries were already moving to Guarantee their own nationals savings with foreign investor's deposits. Will it be any safer given to the Dutch (or Spanish) banks, just because they're in the EC ?

Won't these Rules go the same way , when National Interests are threatened ?

    Hi Tabsy
The main problem that I have with ING is that they are part of a so called passport scheme same as Icesave were. With regards to whether or not they go bust in a week or two, tor hree is anyone's guess. If they did go bust, I don't fancy claiming compensation from a foreign government who will very likely put the interests of their own people before those of UK savers. Besides, euros don't work for me. Can you imagine the money you'd lose converting your money back to pounds based on current exchange rates. Just my personal opinion of course:rolleyes:

I made a request to withdraw from KE as soon as i heard about Icesave and also i did panic due the the amount of people who must of been withdrawing from KE as the phones are still constantly engaged still and sounds to me that everyone wants to take there money elsewhere , which is what i have done , but as of yet my money has not been moved.

I was promised that my money would have been paid today but it has not , gave me some excuse that head office were dealing with it to add the interest so may take a little longer

Well of all the accounts left out there, :D, I think that Bradford and Bingley are the best if you want access to your money. All the others seem to be pushing annual bonuses and difficult access criteria....thoughts please
    Love your son.
