HBOS,LTSB,RBS are just as likely to go into receivership as KE UK is
Although I'm happy to sing KEs praises, that's not entirely factual
1. HBOS are already in a mess and in the process of a forced takeover by LTSB
2. LTSB are one of the UKs safest banking organisations by far, if they failed, money wouldn't be worth owning. Comparing KE with LTSB isn't fair, LTSB is by far a safer bank, huge, diverse, and stable.
3. RBS are in trouble without a doubt.0 -

when i said 'just as likely', that indicated i wasnt being entirely factual,ie stating a fact, otherwise i would have put 'will go into' .
ps, as you are an expert and i am factually incorrect, what value did the banks i mentioned lose today compared to KE ??chaps £20k out KE 06/10 in A&L 06/10 same day0 -
It could be your computer / browser, clear all the cookies / cache and try again.
Better still run the free CCleaner to clean all the junk quickly.
I and many others constantly recommend this on the MSE Tech forum, pop over and hav a read.
I've been using KE website all day today, moved a bit out to test everything is still ok, no problems. Impressed to by the constant updates re their protection etc.
If you still have problems give them a ring, I'm sure they will help. 08451 31 32 33
Have tried the phone line a number of times today but it is constantly engaged.
Will try your advice re clearing cookies etc
Thanks.

In MY OPINION HSBC are now by far the safest of the big four, primarily due to their diversification in Asia.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

Don't take the comment personally, which was only being qualified. In essence your original post was spot on.
BTW, very few experts on here, just your usual Sunday league amateurs. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
HSBC are the strongest because they have a 90% loan to deposit ratio. Everyone else has over 100% loan to deposit ratio. This is why HSBC stocks raised in price today.0

It's simple, withdraw your money out of KE asap for the following reasons;
a) Their website is not working properly (despite what others may tell you)
b) Their support (both web & customer facing) has almost stopped - strange that.
c) They are Islandic and Iceland is facing bancrupcy
You earned your money so why risk it. One last point, ignore those who condem you as being part of the problem, if they want to keep their cash in KE and face the possibility of an untested and probably protracted process let them.0 -

it included a quote of my post, it was aimed at my post, i think that makes it personal?
still waiting for the answer as well though, what value did the mentioned banks lose today?chaps £20k out KE 06/10 in A&L 06/10 same day0 -
I regularly read this and other money forums. I do see today what appear to be a rash comments. All I can say is I am like many other savers, worried. I read these forums for guidance.
Fact.
These last few weeks I have had problems with the KE site relating to incorrect account details shown on the site. Every time I have called the customer service department, they have been very courteous and helpful. That includes THIS EVENING. They still have not resolved the IT problem but sent postal confirmation. It seems they have IT problems. They also paid me £50 as a goodwill gesture.
When I spoke to them last week they confirmed they were in the Passport system similar to Icesave, without hesitation.
Today confirmed they had converted fully to the UK compensation scheme. This is also shown on the website.
I can only relate my experience, but feel as worried as anyone else about my savings, which I have spread in different banks.
What I do know, as it is not rocket science, if everyone pulls all their money out of a bank, it must collapse or stop withdrawals. Eventually the whole system will seize up and Armageddon ensues. BE SENSIBLE, KEEP YOUR HEADS or we will all be in the S**T. None of us would be in this position if we were not minded to save instead of spend spend spend.0
