...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

thankfully, no!Nope, I considered it though after reading this site. I'm glad I decided not to0

Yes, less than £50kYes, and I'm not worried. With all that's happened to NR, B&B and now Icesave, the only savers that have lost anything are those that lost valuable interest by withdrawing money before bonds reached maturity.0

Yes, less than £50kI think IceSave will be a bit different to B&B or NR, due to the international aspect. It looks likely that the UK deposits could be bought up by another bank though.. Hope it's true!0

thankfully, no!I just heard this woman on the radio, I think her name was Emma. She had put 100k in 12 months ago in a 3 year bond from the sale of her flat. I feel really sorry for her, at best she's probably going to have wait months to get her money back.
Whether she gets all of it is not clear, it doesn't look good though
I voted no, although I do have some money in Kaupthing, not a huge amount but enough.0 -
Yes, less than £50kBoth OH and I have our cash ISAs in Icesave. We feel cautiously optimistic that we'll get the money back eventually, but I'm wondering if we'll lose the ISA allowances (or have to jump through hoops to retain them).
OH had a fairly substantial amount of savings in Icesave earlier in the year, and we only moved it because we realised as I'm a lower-rate taxpayer it was better to put it into my name. So now it's in Kaupthing Edge!0 -
Yes, less than £50kWe've got a couple of ISAs put in this year and a couple of thousand in easy access (well, I laughed!) savings so I think we're lucky. The funny thing is I logged on at the weekend and nearly transferred it out and then I stopped because of losing the tax free aspect of the ISA. Silly me, what would that have mattered? Then before I went to bed I heard that Iceland might go bankrupt. Well, I didn't sleep well after that so I can only feel for people with more savings tied up. Maybe some house deposits put at risk?0

Yes, less than £50kThe IceSave accounts have been topping the tables for months now, so I would imagine a lot of people have savings there who thought they were a good place for their money!0

It is my understanding that they will be nationalised?.... which would lead me to believe that my money is safe. Perhaps I'm just stupidly optimistic.
However, I do feel for those who need to get at their cash quickly for whatever reason.0 -

I can't seem to get a straight answer from anywhere about whether they will be nationalised or not. I think I am understanding that the Icelandic portion will be nationalised, but possibly not the UK operations. I am not sure though. I think the thing to do is wait until the dust has cleared and someone gives a straight story.0 -
Yes, less than £50kFrom the poll it looks like alot of us were tempted by IceSave. I'm finding it hard to learn a lesson here as I could think, "keep your money in the UK", but where? Dare I say, in property? It's all very ouch!!!0
