Little Rabbit Foo Foo. We discussed it at length on another thread a month or so back. It is particularly useful at the age of two, because the phrase "I don't like your attitude" is so much nicer to use in polite company than what one may truly be thinking of our little darlings ...
But if he's into Thomas, then lots of Thomas books may be the answer! They are true classics, you can keep them for your grandchildren ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Thanks to those who suggested the Mr Men and Little Miss books but he won't sit still for these, nor the Mog books, but thanks anyway.0 -
My 2 year 8 months daughter loves the Daisy books by Kes Gray:
Eat Your Peas
Really Really
Yuk!
You Do!
Aimed at girls mainly, but he's also written books suitable for boys, such as Billy's Bucket. The books are very well written and often have a catchphrase that they can join in with. I often hear yells of "I DON'T LIKE PEAS SAID DAISY" as DH is putting DD to bed!!
Edited to say that Eat Your Peas won the Children's Book Award in 2001. Full list of past winners here.0 -
Oh no! Looked some of these up and now I want to get Eat Your Peas AND Billy's Bucket too!0

My 2 year old likes flap books but absolutely loves the touch and feel board books. I bought a really good one from Tesco for £3.99. Its was all about colours and had lots of different texture to touch. He uses this one every day.A banker is someone who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining, and who asks for it back when it start to rain.0

..... and after reading that thread (to those that didn't see it it was PAGES and PAGES of discussions about the actual wording of the book)... I asked my daughter about it. She knew it already from school and said it was really funny. So I bought it from Amazon
I'll be wrapping it for Christmas for my 6 yr old but will be reading it to both my children. I think it's a bit old for my 2 yr old and a bit young for my 6 yr old but for reading to them together I think it'll have something for both of them.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
We have a book about a little monkey called Mungo who wants to do everything on his own and his long suffering mum is constantly chasing after him making sure all the other animals don't get too mad at him. Until bedtime, when he doesn't want to go to bed on his own. It's beautiful and my son loves it. (He's nearly 2.) I think my mum got it new in a charity shop so I'll find out more and let you know. I think it's called 'On My Own.'
Other favourites are already mentioned. Very Busy Spider, Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Gruffalo. A nice one called Ness the Nurse was a favourite too.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Thanks Gingham Ribbon. It would be nice to know the name of the Mungo book. I've searched On My Own and it isn't bringing anything up.0

Okay, I haven't got through to my mum yet about where she bought it and I can't find it yet on line but here are the details:
On My Own - by Jillian Harker and Louise Gardner.
ISBN no 1-84250-153-4
Bright Sparks Books, Queen Street House, 4 Queen Street, Bath, BA1 1HE
Copyright Parragon 2000
Created and produced by the complete works. St Mary's Road, Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire CV31 1JP
Will post again when mum calls back to find out where it is sold as I'm pretty sure it's not widely available. Shame because it's just lovely. I've been reading it this afternoon with my lad and he loves it.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Thanks for going to all that trouble Gingham Ribbon. I'm wondering if it's out of print if it isn't easy to find? Although Bright Sparks Books sounds like quite a small outfit, so probably just not widely available as you suggest.0
