The one option I would suggest anyone thinking about on this E-Value is the LCD Monitor.
Changing from the standard E176FP to the 1704FPT Ultrasharp will give you a few ergonomic/minor advantages but one significant one:
- slightly higher contrast 500:1 v 450:1
- greater adjustability - eg height
- use in regular landscape (wide) or portrait (tall) mode (slightly more useful if do lots of A4 docs and/or spreadsheeting - as 1280x1024 or 1024x1280 not a great difference)
- a 4 port USB2 hub
- but IMPORTANTLY a DVI-D interface
Extra cost is £56 inc VAT, before any cashback.
For me that investment in a DVI interface should be worthwhile as the Dell system says the standard 256MB ATI Radeon X600 HyperMemory graphics card supports DVI output.
And before people ask why DVI - Dell's glossary sums it up:
"DVI Digital Video Interface:
"Some performance flat panels display images from a digital signal, negating the need for a RAMDAC. Using a DVI compatible video card and display means a pure digital signal is sent from the card to the display without the risk of losing signal integrity through the digital-to-analogue conversion process that takes place in the RAMDAC."0 -
Is it just me or has Dell site been unavailable this eve and yesterday eve?0

I can get in without any probs.0

Is this a better deal than tne last DELL offer?"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0

Thanks - but now I'm mystified. I don't have any other problems with websites. I've tried https://www.dell.com (mostly not there but turned up a few minutes ago) and https://www.dell.co.uk (could access a few days ago but not now) and I have also tried links to particular dell pages provided on MSE ("The page cannot be displayed"). I have broadband. What might be going on - I need a PC and the offers look great today?
Thanks folks.0 -
