I am concerned and I want to know if my money is safe. our life savings are in Icesave and I am worried sick.0

There's absolutely nothing that can be done about it in the short anyway, your posts are serving no purpose but to scare people.
I've already made it very clear that I completely respect people who decided to withdraw their cash, but in the same respect feel a lot of the comments being made on here will just make the situation worse.
Comforting people with the assurance that they're fully covered up to £50k seems a far better route, imo.
I'm being serious here, please stop with your pessimism because it's not helping anyone.0 -
Indeed, good point well made. I have money with Kaypthing Edge and tbh, when I saw the Beeb this morning I began to worry whether my investment would be safe or not - the only trouble with the Media is they report facts and then don't actually tell you whether your money is safe or not, so they are also partly to blame.0

How could you possibly have a go at the posters here or anyone else for scaremongering? The worst scaremonger of all has to be the Prime Minister of Iceland. I mean after all, he's just said
"There is a very real danger, fellow citizens, that the Icelandic economy, in the worst case, could be sucked with the banks into the whirlpool and the result could be national bankruptcy.... "
So shut up. If you don't want to move your money then fine, and who knows, everything may turn out to be ok, but people who say that Iceland is in serious trouble are not scaremongering.0 -

The best help any of us can give people is to help them be better informed.
Let's say, for example, that Icesave carries on processing withdrawals for a couple of weeks & then the Icelandic Govt goes bankrupt? All that advice that people should relax & not touch their money (that so many are dishing out) would look pretty sick.
I'm not advising anyone on what to do. What I AM saying is that blindly saying "everything is OK" is just as wrong as blindly saying "PANIC".
Telling people everything is OK when it may not be is not doing them any favours. And shouting down anyone who dares to suggest everything may not be OK (as many are doing) is wrong.0 -
Kaupthing Edge
You will not get a reply on either phone numbers available - the bank has ceased trading at the moment - it will be interesting to see if they will allow you to move funds out of your account. Anyone putting money in at the moment must be a fool.
Sorry but this post is completely wrong. The current cessation in deposits & withdrawals is not related to KE at all.
Please stick to the facts when posting. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
I've never said, or suggested everything is okay.
What I have said is that pessimism is arguably what has got us into this mess, and I think in the short term, whilst withdrawals are suspended, it's more important to have the comfort that their money is safe up to £50k, rather than countless people proclaiming they've just withdrawn all of their money and implying that everyone else is ****ed.0 -

I'm sorry. Why would you think that? Are you really that ignorant?0 -

What cessation in deposits & withdrawls? I must have missed something. I know Lands... and KE shares are suspended, but is there a piece of news I've missed.0
