Kaupthing Edge engaged

Anyone else able to get through to KE? They didn't close all of my fixed term accounts as requested and now I cannot get through to them on the phone :o

They only open at 8 a.m. - give them a chance....
  • You can also issue an instruction to move your FTD acount to your KE savers account via their secure messaging service (which is also part of their website). It will take them about 1 day to respond to your message, then 48 hours to do the transfer. Once your funds are in the KE savers account, you can pay £20 to have a same BACS transfer (provided you do the instruction before 2pm).

Have taken my money out of Kaupthing. Why take the risk with my hard earned savings?

There is NO problem with KE. They are a UK bank, based and regulated in the UK just like any other UK based bank.

So if KE went bang, your first port of call is the FSCS, unlike Icesave where you (and I, as I have £3k in Icesave..) have to use the Icelandic compensation system first.

Because there's no risk (up to £50,000), and they offer the best interest rates. That's why.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

And how long do you think that process will take? Really for the sake of an extra 1% or whatever I find it mind boggling people put their money into Icelandic banks

KE is essentially a UK bank, under UK law and the UK protection FSCS system.

Has anyone got through in the last 30 mins - I have been on hold for 15 mins and there is an answer machine message that keeps looping...
It seems like there is a run on the bank?
My advice for anyone with money in KE - make a print out of your accounts (just to be on the safe side)...

Sure but the credit rating of KE has been horrific for months - the market was predicting problems.

Getting your money back via FSCS will take months.
