I am classless. I do not identify as belonging to any group and i do not recognise any groups. The only thing i recognise is respect. People respect me,i respect them. If they dont,i treat them with disdain.
  • I don't think I received the mail with the voting opportunity, but would have indicated working class for myself. Surely the definition of working class is those who need to work to recieve an income, whilst those whose income is earned solely by the efforts of unrelated employed staff may be middle or upper-class, if we consider class is related to income and not behaviour.
  • 140 people voted themselves as upper class. I find it fascinating that out of roughly 1000 viscounts, barons, earls, marquis' and dukes in the UK, 140 of them are members of this forum.

We are all working class really as we work.

There are millions of people in this country who don't work.
  • Hello all

I was born into a poor family, my mother was a single parent who often struggled with money

My mother completed a degree at 40 and now has her own business

I went to a Catholic Grammar private school; we didn't have to pay for it as I passed my 11+ and achieved the best grades in my year

I went to medical school, but left by choice after the third year; I had to work during the summer to support myself- I took jobs as a cleaner and home carer

I completed a degree in management; when I left I had to claim job seekers to support myself while I found a graduate position

I started a career in HR; I earn a reasonable salary and I intend to take a Masters in HR Management next year in order to progress further

I rent privately with no intention of owning my own property as I do not want children and therefore feel it is an unneccesary burden

I do not vote or read papers as I do not like being lied to and I laugh when I watch question time as noone ever answers the question

I shop in Asda, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Tescos, Aldi, Marks and Spencer and just about anywhere else that takes my fancy

So what class do I fit into? I think I've been everywhere from socioeconomic classes B to E at some point if my marketing lecturer is right. LOL answers on a postcard please!

I think all that matters is that I am happy. There's only one type of folk and that's folk

Stop stressing and be happy x

PS I love a bargain! (That much should be obvious)
