£65 k in a year, they make that in a week so they have no reason to stop.0

I fail to see why its classed as ripping people off? I mean all the charges are stated in the T&Cs so if you don't read them, but happilly text into a short code premium rate number, then you have no cause to complain really.
It does pay to read the small print, and by law the prices have to be stated.0 -
TBH, I can't see how you missed the message on Facebook! I went through & did the test like you - but then this big message came up saying I had to text etc (at £3) to get the result & by doing so I'd be giving them permission to keep texting at £3 a throw.
So I cancelled out of the screen. Buyer beware? :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0 -
I've just had a text from 88870 on my mobile adverstising Costco. It hasn't asked me to do anything and I won't. In 'Details' it says the Message Centre was +447958879882.
Its not about an IQ test and I haven't been on FaceBook for months. I just thought maybe the number 88870 is being used for something else now, and people should know.0 -
Hi, i was on facebook yesterday and replied to a how good is your IQ...anyway it said when you get your score text it to 88870....i was shocked to see that i had been charged £3 for the text....i said to myself i wont be doing that again........now twice more in the last 24 hours i have recived a text and when i open them i get charged £3.......can anyone tell me how i can stop them and if i could get my money back.
It's not when you open the text you are charged £3, it is when you receive the text you are charged £3. Many people wrongly think if they don't open the text they won't be charged, that's incorrect you will be charged as the sender doesn't know whether you have opened it or not. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Somewhere, where you have seen the shortcode number, will have been the charges, terms and conditions. The premium rate companies reckon that if you have read enough to text the number, then you have read the charges etc and so have agreed to them.
There is not much chance of getting any money back, but you do need to send a text with the word STOP in it, make sure it's in capitals and there is nothing in there but the 4 letters, anything else invalidates the stop message and keeps you in the system.
STOP should kick you out of the system.
I too have been conned by this on facebook and nowhere did a box pop up telling me how much it would cost me to receive the text otherwise I would not have taken part. I have tried STOP and it doesnt work. I am on PAYG and now I cant top my phone up as it will take my credit as soon as I do, I keep getting a message saying there is one waiting for me and to top my phone up,. which I am not going to do,.
