Has anyone said make sure you'd had a smear recently?
I'd also add get any DIY done in your house cos once you are PG you won;t feel up to it/it won;t be safe and you will want it done before baby arrives.
    Save money!
And what everyone else has said - rubella, folic acid, stop smoking, eat well, etc.

As others have said, you should go and visit your GP to arrange for a smear test, unless you've had one fairly recently, and a blood test to check for your rubella immunity. If you've got a negative blood group and your husband a positive group you might also want to check for the presence of anti-D in your blood. I'm having problems with that at the moment, in my second pregnancy.

If you're not immune to rubella you'll be given an MMR vaccination, which means you shouldn't get pregnant for another 3 months afterwards.

As for getting pregnant itself, when you're trying to conceive you should avoid alcohol/cigarettes/other recreational drugs, and take folic acid supplements. You're at your most fertile mid-cycle, i.e. approximately 14 days after the start of your period. So you should have the most sex starting from a few days after your period ends - if you do it every night or two for a week then I believe your chances of conceiving in that month are about 30%.

First time it took me 4 months to get pregnant (after coming off the pill). This time it took me one month (after coming off implanon).

    Good luck.

Remember you only have a 1 in 5 chance of getting pregnant each month anyway so it can take some time and not to worry if it doesn't happen straight away.http://www.gettingpregnant.co.uk/howlongwillittake.htm
