Make sure you both have a healthy balanced diet.
Maintain fitness or start to get fit, so your body will be more receptive to a pregnancy.
See your doctor - as a couple, not on your own - for a ttc check-up, they will discuss everything you should be aware of, advise on family illnesses (mine needed to warn me of clots in pregnancy that runs in my family), change any medication if needed.0 -
Have lots of sex

Sorry, mine does and I thought they all did.
Yes, let's keep this on topic0 -

Lots of sex, all the time to be absolutely sure it's in the middle of the cycle? Then at least there's no stress worrying about when the right time to have sex is

Hi
I would echo what other posters have said... Try and save some money now, start taking folic acid and eat healthily etc.
I'm 22, DH 25 and we're expecting our first baby on 7th March. I had it in my head that it would take AGES to get pregnant (read stuff in magazines, internet etc). Came of the pill end of March, fell pregnant in May but had a miscarriage at 7 weeks so that took us to 3rd June (ish) then found out I was pregnant AGAIN on 7th July!! So sometimes it happens quicker than you think!!
The other advice that people have given me is that you dont 'need' all the stuff thats in the Mothercare books etc, babies dont need loads of stuff.
Enough waffle from me. Good luck!!0 -
Hi Mariagti
That's a very interesting point about maternity pay. It's always so hard to try and read up about this sort of thing on the intranet at work without people catching you and asking questions.
Mine seems to be I have 5 months' full pay and then 6 months' statutory pay, but I can take a year so the last month would be on no pay.
Also, if people are looking to not go back to work you may need to check if you have to pay any maternity pay back...
