MountainView why are you fixing on fraudulent claims as the reason for higher premiums for the unemployed?I was referring to a few comments that were made in the older part of this thread, and hence debating the case and why I felt that wrong. More specifically, I found the 'all unemployed people are more likely to break the law – this is common sense' (paraphrasing) comment in bad taste and felt motivated enough to comment on it. No one here seems to actually know for sure this is the reason. Please refer to my first post

Errrr, may I ask why you felt motivated enough to ask me to change my font?0 -
Because the one you are using is difficult to read0

My font has ended up like this as I have a very temperamental Vista PC which crashes on me daily, sometimes 7 or 8 times a day. I have learnt from bitter experience that I need to type EVERTHING out on a word processor or notepad first and save every sentence – or else I can and will loose everything I have written. I guess my word processor has been set to some odd font. I've never really noticed, either way, I quite like it.
I'll tell you what, if someone else complains about my font, I'll consider the probability of potentially pondering the likelihood of pondering the possibility of perhaps contemplating changing my font

Unemployed people are on average a higher risk than other sedentary occupations, no matter what theories you may have on the matter.

There are many factors which are essentially outside your control which affect the risk presented -principally your age and gender. The fact that someone is unemployed is no different - it may be outside their control but it materially affects the risk and hence the premium will be altered accordingly.
MountainView wrote: »downgraded to criminal class because their employers company collapsed and they lost their job. Overnight they have been deemed as a 'fraudulent claim' risk. That is a huge flaw in an insurances risk assessment, not to mention flipping offensive. There is nothing fair about that.
Nobody in cases like this are being 'downgraded to criminal class' or deemed a 'fraudulent claim risk' - that is merely your emotional language that you are imposing on the matter. It does not reflect the logic or the actual facts of the matter.MountainView wrote: »But my issue isn't necessarily about it being 'fair' though. There are more prudent statistical tools available to asses a customers potential fraudulent claim risk.
Like what? Do you have any expertise in underwriting, pricing or risk selection?
MountainView wrote: »Imo being unemployed should not be any kind of a factor in assessing someone's fraudulent claim risk, when far for indicative risk assessment factors are available; for example, someones NCB and criminal/motoring convictions.
You clearly either cannot read or are being deliberately vexatious as I pointed out the obvious flaw in your logic in this respect earlier in the thread.
MountainView wrote: »The point I'm making is, despite far more fitting statistical analysis available to assess fraudulent claim risk, certain insurance companies wilfully do not seem to use them.
Please explain specifically what 'more fitting' statistical analysis there is than rating on occupation in addition to all other rating factors.

Please provide your evidence that premiums for unemployed drivers are 'disproportionate'. Links to verifiable data on loss ratios would be preferred.0 -

Your font hurts my eyes.MountainView wrote: »Lol, I'm not finding it difficult to read, but then I have a large monitor. You know you can just use the 'control' and '+' function, don't you? Then to set the enlargement back use the 'control' and '-' keys.
So will you change it?
You need to remember that some fonts are better in print then they are for reading things online.
I'm not cynical I'm realistic
