I'm as mystified as you are, Chev. I iron very little and we always look presentable! My secret is giving everything a good shake before hanging it on the line or putting it in the drier.

I'll give that a try Seaxwyn and let you know how I get on.;)

Do you think it has anything to do with overloading the washer or dryer?

OH helpfully empties the tumble drier. That says it all.

Emptying the tumble drier involves exactly that. Open door, dump into basket, shut door. Take basket into house, dump contents upside down on arm chair. DDs have been known to climb onto the top of Mount Ironmore to see over the hedge thus worsening the creases.

I don't iron things that people won't see but as they all wear shirts thats a minimum of 15 shirts a week ,usually 20 as DD2 manages to feed hers at some stage between getting dressed and leaving the house.

Possibly - I never fill the drier more than half full as it takes so much longer. Also it's best to empty the drier as soon as it stops.

If I can get away with not ironing something then I do.:D

Hubbys police shirts I have to iron. They are meticulous about uniform at our Force, same with his trousers.

A lot of my little girls trousers I have to iron, she has quite a few combat style ones and I have a real bug bear about upturned pockets lol.

I would say I end up ironing around half of my washing.

I think a lot of it is whether you have the time/organisation to empty to the washer and tumbler straight away. I find at the weekends when I have more time and I can take things straight from the tumbler I can iron a lot less then when it has been sit that whilst I am at work.

That's where I go wrong then - I am usually out at work or dashing about doing a million and one other things when the drier stops, so it sits in there until I get back by which time it needs ironing....

you are all using a drier?!!!!! I don't have one and couldn't afford to run one anyway, my DS wears polo shirts for school and even the posher ones look cack if they don't get ironed. I do hang things up immediately when they come out of the washing machine too. and I know lots of people who never iron but they always look a bit crumpled - sorry.
I don't have lots of money to spend on clothes but find if I look after those that I do have they look much better.

Whereas I am usually staring gloomily at an empty screen and glad of an excuse to get up and do something different :rotfl:

Seriously though, by saving the drying to a time when you will be able to empty it, you would save yourself a big workload and major cause of stress. Clean washing can sit in the washing machine for 24 hours or more if necessary.

SS I have to use a drier - there is no way I could get everyone's clothes dry otherwise. I work more than full time, so can't rely on getting washing in off the line before it rains.

Seaxwyn, it I saved my washing and drying until a time when I had to get it done in one go, it would only get done once a month.........:rotfl:

I am with Hypno I know I would struggle with time to dry all my clothes in other ways.

The thing I struggle with as well is no matter what conditioner I use if I put my clothes over my banister to dry they go all crispy  I sure I must be doing something wrong.
