Kaupthing Edge thread with a twist - who's not bothered?

KE online account holders cannot log into their accounts without first ticking the box which states they accept KE's Terms & Conditions.
I don't see that box/option, just logged in to double check and looked everywhere.
As writing this I worked it out. I use opera and it seems to skip that part. I just checked in IE and saw what you said.
Any other opera users notice this? what about firefox? I know it's off topic just out of interest?0 -
The sheer number of people on this forum alone withdrawing their money from KE/Icesave is incredibly worrying. That's what scares me more than anything, all of these people withdrawing their cash, and leaving very little funds to help these institutions keep afloat.
I have no idea how these things work if I'm honest, but I can only imagine the more people withdraw their cash, the worse things get?0 -

I only have to tick it if I've cleared my cookies. If you accept cookies from KE's website, it will store that you have ticked it in memory, and you wont have to tick it each time you log on. Whatever browser you use. (I'm a firefox girl)Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012

Am I bothered ?, I have just this minute locked my £9000 Kaupthing savings into their 3 year fixed at 7.67% and will be going uptown today to withdraw £13000 from my Yorkshire account to fix for 3 years with Kaupthing.0

This is what the Icelandic Prime Minister actually said:-

Apparentlly, 300,000 UK savers didn't withdraw their money from IceSave.
And now can't.
Sadly, that's rather more worrying than any concern for the health or otherwise of that particular financial institution.0 -
To all those on this thread. Are you still not bothered?0

Not sure, Swipe, that what's happened with IceSave has much bearing on Kaupthing Edge's UK operation.
KE has confirmed that all UK saver deposits are "permanently" with KE's UK subsidiary. So that means KE savers are as well covered by the FSCS as they would be if their savings were placed in any other UK institution.
The way things are going, who on earth knows which bank where will be the next to hit trouble? To judge from even the most cursory appraisal of KE's operations, it's actually been a damn sight better managed than many another European outfit.
I don't have a crystal ball and I don't want one. I simply want 100% FSCS protection.
Kaupthing Edge offers that.
Having moved the bulk of my savings out from KE pending clarification of the novation issue -- KE has now done precisely that -- my savings are going back into KE.
I wish it well.0 -
Has KE made a statement about novation? I've seen that the T&C changed on IIRC 06.10 to remove the 3.2 novation clause, but I haven't seen anything official that mentions that.
They should be shouting it from the rooftops. Of course they might have been and it might just be that the news channels haven't got their heads around it.

What I won't do is join the sheep, Northern-Rock style, queueing up to pull all their money out of the banks, thereby actually causing the disaster that they most fear! It was already said this morning that the thousands of British savers pulling money out of IceSave after Glitnr was nationalised last week was, while not the whole problem, a major issue that didn't make Landsbanki's life any easier.
Like the Prime Minister of Iceland says:H.E._Geir_H._Haarde wrote:Both in politics and elsewhere it will be important to sheathe our swords. It is very important that we display both calm and consideration during the difficult days ahead, that we do not lose courage and support each other as well as we can. Thus with Icelandic optimism, fortitude and solidarity as weapons, we will ride out the storm.
God bless Iceland.0
