I didnt say it was. I just think it's done on purpose to make things less clear at a glance.

I agree. I also think it is to try to fuddle us. But hey, we MS are smarter than they give us credit for, Heh?

Some posts further above I'd mentioned their wacky pricing on cat and dog food. We have a cat and a dog.

Tesco own brand cat food was sold at £3.99 per 12, whilst buying 12 single cans at 32p would have been £3.84 only. That's 15p for the foil wrap, or what?

The same pack is now, as you say, at a whopping £5. That's a 25% increase.
With dog food, it's the same story.

My crystal ball tells me it's going to drop to 4.89ish soon, with a big screaming funky "Lower Price" label on it. But then my crystal ball isn't always right.
I was also horrified to see the price hike in cat/dog food - I'm now boycotting Tesco's pet food. Sheer greedyness Tesco!

Own brand dried fruit. last week 65p, now 94p. No doubt in a few weeks SEL will read SAVE OVER 25% was 94p now 65p. After all they did the same last year. Price went from 41p to 65p then dropped back to 41p for a while.
Until then I'll shop at one of the other supermarkets who are still selling at the lower price.

Cat food's OUTRAGEOUS now in Tesco. Our snobby cat will only Whiskas & posher, so that's what we get her. Used to be around the £3 mark for 6x400g cans, now it's £3.37!! Sainsbury's is around £3.15 and the Morrisons where the in-laws live (we live in central London, booo) carries it for £3.02. Grrrrrrrr...
top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

would like to win a holiday, please!!

Noticed lettuce and cucumber have really gone up in price this week (we get through lots as have two giant pet snails) - cucumber was 69p last week and was exactly a £1 today! Think we are going to start going to the local farm shop, if he did a delivery service I would use it weekly rather than the supermarket.

This is one to bear in mind. Daughter shopped at Tesco today and her whole shop consisted of branded products and came to £56.58 She came here before going home and as she is registered for internet shopping with Waitrose she entered every item on her Tesco receipt as if she were shopping at Waitrose. I was surprised that the cost at Waitrose was also £56.50 ish (within pence of Tesco) BUT she would have had 2 boxes of Fairy tablets and 2 lots of toothpaste and a larger something else, all amounting to over £6 worth of added value from Waitrose compared to Tesco. Roughly 11.5%

Tesco are getting ridiculously expensive on all manner of items. I've stopped shopping there completely now due to all the price increases - they've lost a customer because of this.

I wonder how many others have done the same. Maybe they will lose market share and (hopefully) get taken down a peg or two from their previously arrogant position.
