Hi, I currently own a VW Jetta - an old old H reg. My brother's been getting it through it's MOT every year for sometime (he's a mechanic) but says that it won't pass the next. I want to replace it with something that has a boot as big as the one in the Jetta.
I'm not sure how many litres it is, but I can get a cello, two violins, a viola, four music stands plus music in with room to spare. It's perfect for me because I have loads of musical equipment and sometimes when your gigging you need to leave expensive stuff hidden in the boot for short amounts of time.
I know it's a risk, but I figure - if no-one knows it's in there, then why would they try to break in? It's worked so far and I never leave stuff for more than 10 minutes or so. Anyway, that's why I'm trying to replace the Jetta with another Saloon with as big a boot as possible.
My dad reckons the only car with a bigger boot is a Rolls Royce. I definitely hope he's wrong! If anyone can recommend a few cheap car models that are saloons with big boots, I'd be really really grateful.

parkers.co.uk will give you an idea of the sizing of current cars.
google specific cars to get their data otherwise.
Suprised (or otherwise ignorant to the fact) that a saloon has more boot space than a hatchback when putting in large items.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
Another Jetta?
I did have a Passat which is quite large, but not that nice to drive. I had on 07 model.

we used to have a v reg vectra which had a huge boot and you would definately fit all of the above in but I fear the newer models are not as spacious0

How about an estate? Usually the only difference is they're a bit longert and squarer at the back.0

In the past we've had two Volvo 960s (later to become the S90) and their boot was massive. You can pick these up for absolute peanuts now and the specs are really high (leather, heated seats, computer etc) and I found the older models in the brand to be really reliable with lots of independent specialists around and a good owners club with people happy to help. The estates hold their value but large saloons have bombed so bargains to be had.
Only drawback is the insurance, tax and thirstier driving - but they are a really great ride.
By the way, your probably know this but don't just look at litre capacity - the size of opening is also important as there's no point in having space if you can't get big things into it.
If you wanted to consider an estate - a load cover will hide your belongings but they are not as secure as a boot - I'd recommend a Volvo V40. Again, they are getting a bit elderly (last made 04 I think) but I've had two of these as well and they are a great drive with good space in the back and an option to turn the back seats into a flat load area.
Let us know what you get.

My old Cavalier saloon had a huge boot. Enough for two set of golf clubs, plus shoes, umbrella, my tools and car equipment, footballs, and probably more... You can get those for reasonable money now? The SRi was particularly nice:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. A Skoda Octavia has a huge boot. It is also a hatchback so if you put the seats down it is massive.
