Now they have nearly all moved back the only ones that havent are the unfortunate few who bought homes instead of renting. But they are trying desperately to sell quickly even accepting very low offers so they can move home where they can earn more money in Euros. The Pound is so low now foreigners just want to move abroad its so easy to earn more per hour than in the UK.
This place is an example, 70K for a huge place with full planning to be be 2 flats-

apparently a Polish builder was going to make into 2 flats and has got planning permission, but now its just not worth it.
Why wouldnt the Polish builder complete the project now? To sell it so cheaply surely isnt wise.
I think it would be worth it for 35K each, they are both quite big flats. Also they are not these cheap as chips new builds, this is a proper end of ter house.0 -

Yes its quite telling about the situation today. When a very nice area like Pembroke has flats up for sale for 35K each.
How long before we see flats in London for 35K each? Maybe new builds because banks wont give mortgages for them. But for real houses turned into flats like this one, that will be the day.0 -

Do you really think those 2 flats are overpriced for 35K each? What was that about another 10K, I dont understand?
Yes. I'm suggesting they could be, depending on what is in store for Pembrokeshire and the local economy there. I don't know the area, but just fear that old-world values might be shattered in some areas, say if some big employer pulls out which alters expectations.
Who really wants a £35K flat anyway (and after development a seller would have to list it at more than £35K) in what was originally meant to be a house for one family? Another big con and altered reality of the boom.
novazombie.. surely you have property-bee installed? (Maybe you just need to refresh the page if you do). It records any changes that have been made to a RightMove listing. Very helpful to see reductions, and encouraging when you keep seeing tens of thousands knocked off a property that you are interested in. So useful as an over-view tool in how the market is going.
It was priced at £60,000 as on 8th January 2009, but in this instance the Estate Agent changed the listing and bumped up the price to £70,000 on the 10th January 2009.0 -
What was your brother doing there Carolt? Did you just make that up? Knowone gets stabbed in Pembrokeshire.
Pembrokeshire is a lovely retirment place, I am very surprised you can get flats for 35K. Surely you can rent for more than 50wk.
Think you got confused there - it was Dalston I was referring to.
Doubt anyone gets stabbed in Pembrokeshire either. Though now I've said that, someone probably will.
Can't think of any reason why he'd travel from London to Pembrokeshire either. Fact is, I don't even know where Pembrokeshire is.0 -
Fact is, I don't even know where Pembrokeshire is.
It is in South West Wales.

That was the extent of my knowledge as well... other than we sometimes buy Pembrokeshire potatoes.0 -

Don't know the area, so can't really comment, but I do know this area:
One bedroom flat in a decent enough seaside town, North Wales, sold for 29.5k - http://www.eigroup.co.uk/auctioneers/templates/lotdetails.asp?au=10779&a=539&c=hah&l=5249390 -

It seems to me we are back to 1990s prices already.
Admitedly these prices of about 30 grand are not yet widespread.
But the question remains why didnt these sell for more?0 -

Wow, that's so cheap!
Putting the holiday home on the credit card is now an option.0
